BSOD after recent update
Jade
I just logged on a little less than an hour ago (3am central time) and there was an update. Got to the character selection screen no problem, selected my character (who is in Cantha) no problem. It proceeded to dl the update quickly. The problem came when I tried to run or even move, it seemed like I had oober lag from hell. Then it froze up. Then a strange clicking noise from my tower. Then the dreaded BSOD. I then rebooted, and tried again with the same results. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Could it be something to do with the recent update? A driver problem? (which are up to date to the best of my knowledge.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Listing hardware specs and such would help.
General Suggestions:
Is your machine to hot? Take the side of the case of, let it rest and try again. Update drivers, GW:F has major issues you dont have the latest drivers especialy for ATI and Creative owners. Do a virus and spyware scan with applications with a good reputation, i.e. not Norton. If that doesnt fix it, then might pay to try a reformat.

as has already been mentioned it would be very useful to know your system specs. the more detail the better especially details on the psu
anything you have changed, modified or upgraded lately?
and what have you already tried to fix the problem.
without at least a detailed spec we can really only stab in the dark.
could be heat. could be psu. could be a loose power connector on the graphics card. could be hard drive or optical drive
open your case and check all cables are firmly plugged in. if they are all secure then try unplugging everuthing except hard drive 1 stick of ram and graphics card. ( remove all pci cards and unplug power and ide from optical drives and secondary hard drives). this will reduce the load on the psu. if the computer works fine in this stripped down state it may be the psu. before you go and buy a new one though plug everything back in 1 piece at a time and check after each to see if the problem comes back.
if the problem persists listen. you say there was a clicking sound? try and pinpoint the component making it.
unlikely to be software but a system scan for spyware etc never hurt so run a full scan.
i wouldnt recommend formatting just yet though. its a bit extreme and only necessary if your system is totally screwed
