During the previous updates I noticed there was a little bit of information that had gone over looked. Due to the release of factions no doubt.

Armor Changes

New armor designs from Cantha have begun to influence armor crafters in Tyria. Existing armor sets will not be updated yet, but a means to upgrade existing level-20 armor for free will be provided in the near future.

Something tells me we can say good bye to that ugly pig thing on platemail chest. (Pure speculation but what the hell.)

I think this is to relieve the fact that some people spent so much gold for their armor (ie. 15k, and FoW), it would be detrimental for them to have to save-up again for the new cantha armors.

It's just an in-game justification for some retrofitting of Tyrian armors so that the new Canthan armors don't totally replace/render obsolete the old Tyrian armors.

I am holding onto my 15k Enchanters to see what the update looks like. I may still salvage it and buy some new armor so that my armor swap between energy and health isn't obvious to the naked eye.

I did salvage my 15k aeromancer armor in favor of a 1.5k Kurzick +health set. I will probably buy elemental chest piece for Air. Earth is useless because most earth spells used in PvP ignore armor anyway. Water and Fire are so rare in PvP that I won't bother with them initially.

I also salvaged my male monk (with FoW pants ) because I made a new female monk with the new Canthan hairstyles, etc. She has 2 sets of Canthan 15k.

Overall, Cantha has been VERY expensive for me.

(However, I must add that even though it's been pricey I am far, FAR happier with these armors, both in style and functionality.)

I'm still waiting for my elementalist's armour to be updated from +15 (v. fire dmg) to +10 (v. elemental dmg) +10 (v. fire dmg)

....and no, ugly pig-armour is to stay

Ok. Just making sure. But if you knew that, then how did you make the logic jump from "armor stats'll be updated to avoid obsolescence" to "yay, we're going to get new armor art for prophecies armors!"? Wishful thinking??

What on earth are you talking about? I never mention anything about stats in my posts?

Uh, that's the entire point of the conversation. The text of the updates is the IC reason for *updating the stats of the old c1 armors to avoid them from becoming obsolete*, which you said you were aware of in post #6. therefore, the question stands: if you were aware of that, then what made you think they'd be changing anything cosmetic about the armors (besides wishful thinking, that is)?

Changing armor stats is easy, just a couple of variable tweaks in a database/code. But changing armor cosmetics involves artists and is alot more work. Which one do you think they're going to do? Hmmm... spend $0 and just change some numbers, or spend money (artists) and change the armor designs too? Yeah.

Or they could also import the skins from Cantha at 0 cost. Just a thought.

Hmmm, from what I've seen, the canthan armour designes all work like fow armour.
Glads looks the same as knights for example, but only if you buy it off the same armorer.

Maybe that's what could happen to the existing tyrian armours and why we still haven't seen any update on the player-owned existing ones.

Changing the numbers might be easy but allowing you to pick the design after the design has been bought already might become a problem for the programmers.

Question is, can we have a weapons crafter who will update our existing weapons too? Like our dragos or victo axe? Not that sundering is all that great to begin with but it'd be nice to even things out.

Hi everyone!

I do have 15k armour on three of my chars. I am playing GW for many month now and it took me a hell of a lot of time to finally get the armours I liked best.

For me it is VERY important that those armours which always had the max stats can be upgraded to the new max. stats. In fact I don't understand why they havn't just changed the armours on the chars as well.

* Has anyone new information on when and how players will be able to do that upgrade?

* What exactly did u mean with pick a design? I mean why should you be able to pick a design? For example if I have 15k platemail with armour 85 they should just make an upgrade to armour 90. No need for design change. Or what did u mean?

I have noticed that the crafters apparently figured this out but is it intended that we go back and rebuy our 15k armors or something? My damned Ascalon boots still show +10 physical instead of the new ones the crafter has for +20 physical.

Have they already done anything about it? Near future? What does this mean?

Well obviously not what it means to me!

No, that's still your motivation to get the 15k version.

If you want the ugly pig off your platemail, buy 15k platemail. That is the point of 15k platemail, isn't it?

I don't think the quote in the original post means that they are going to update any of the art on Chapter 1 armor. I think it was just meaning that stat upgrade NPCs are coming.

Although Anet should have made the statement more clear so as to avoid confusion like this.

No, what they should have done is shipped the game with the necessary functionality instead of shipping it unfinished and fixing it up later. It's not like this was some unexpected bug. They knew what would be necessary in changing armor stats and they should have had it ready upon launch of those new stats. There is no excuse for the current situation.
