Question about acquiring skills in Factions

Welp, I'm just about done with the Island portion of the game (created a new character for Cantha) and I've only done a few quests that offer Skill's as rewards. After the training session with Ng I haven't had any skills as quest rewards. Is it true you have to purchase your skills from here on out? This is garbage if this is true, for 150+ skills and cap sigs i dont feel like spending 150 plat on skills! Thats money for my Kurzick 15k i wont have! If anyone knows more about this, feedback would be nice.

Yep, it's true. One way to get around it is if your character is one of the core professions, simply head back to Tyria and do the skill quests there. The monetary investment in skills becomes quite steep, although to counterbalance it (somewhat), there are usually gold rewards for quests. Basically, ANet is forcing most people choose their skills wisely (i.e. don't waste gold on crap like Otyugh's Cry ).
