capture all elites,
finish every quest,
help all your friends finish the game,
get every set of 15k available to you,
join alliance battles,
do the challange missions.
Get the Cantha Trailblazer title
Get the drunken master title
Get the Treasure hunter title (identify 100 gold items)

there is plenty to keep you busy

you can complete tyria in 4 days eeeeeasy! :P... but yeah it is shorter, what your forgetting is that in Tyria the quests ysed to end at Thunder keep... and go look at the factions map... thers LOADZ of room for new bits and peices, theres plenty of potential for it dont knock it until they have given you a few updates at least. until then, play *nods* have fun!

yeah of course they didnt really rush it, they will just develop more add areas, i mean look down the coast and below the monistary theres loadz of city we havnt explored and a whoe island just sat there... there will be more fun and jolly japes to be had with factions, id stake my razorstone on it!

The map is also much smaller than Tyria

the "used" space in Cantha is bigger than the "used" space in Tyria...most of the Tyrian map is a blank desert or ocean.

Yeah don;t worry Tyria used to end at Thunderhead keep...they addded sorrows furnace, and the fire islands.

PS> You can easily get through Tyria in a day if you skip the bonuses it's only 13 missions. (used to be 10)

Aren't there 25 missions in Prophecies? Or are you saying to skip some to get to 13?

That would be a looooong day, no matter which missions you completed.

there are only 13 missions in Phropecies.....the other 12 that count to the "title" are the bonuses in each mission area.

So you see:
Total mission is Tyria = 13
Total missions in Cantha = 13

Hmm.....

Your math is peculiar, to say the least. I get 25 missions in Prophecies and 18 in Factions (Vizunah Square, Jade Quarry, Fort Aspenwood, and Unwaking Waters all have dual entry points but I'm only going to count them as a single mission.)

Missions in Prophecies (25):
  • Great Northern Wall
  • Fort Ranik
  • Ruins of Surmia
  • Nolani Academy
  • Borlis Pass
  • The Frost Gate
  • Gates of Kryta
  • D'Alessio Seaboard
  • Divinity Coast
  • The Wilds
  • Bloodstone Fen
  • Aurora Glade
  • Riverside Province
  • Sanctum Cay
  • Augury Rock
  • Elona Reach
  • Dunes of Despair
  • Thirsty River
  • Dragon's Lair
  • Ice Caves of Sorrow
  • Iron Mines of Moladune
  • Thunderhead Keep
  • Ring of Fire
  • Abbadon's Mouth
  • Hell's Precipice

Missions in Cantha (18):
  • Minister Cho's Estate
  • Zen Daijun
  • Vizunah Square (cooperative)
  • Dragon's Throat (challenge)
  • Nahpui Quarter
  • Tahnnaki Temple
  • Arborstone
  • Altrum Ruins (challenge)
  • Boreas Seabed
  • Zos Shivros Channel (challenge)
  • Sunjiang District
  • Fort Aspenwood (competitive, Luxon / Kurzick)
  • The Jade Quarry (competitive, Luxon / Kurzick)
  • Eternal Grove
  • Gyala Hatchery
  • Unwaking Waters (cooperative)
  • Raisu Palace
  • Imperial Sanctum

I admit you only need to do 11 of those missions to beat Factions (13 for Canthan characters) but you could beat Prophecies by doing only 8 missions if you just ran the rest.

Is there actually an "end" to the game?. GvG, alliance, different class combos, special armors, titles......Guess it all depends on what you consider "done".

Bait hook. Toss line into water. Catch fish. Reel fish in. Take fish off hook.

Well .... caught my fish .... guess I'm done fishing forever.

No offense, but it's all in the way you look at it.

Augury Rock/Ascension counts towards your Tyria Mission Completion title, so according to the game it is a mission.

ask yourself these question:

1) have you captured all elite skills for your character?
2) have you unlocked all skills/rune for pvp or pve?
3) have you tried hoh yet?
4) have you explored the whole map?
5) have you done the mission bonus?
6) have you got the best weapons/armor?

If you haven't done any of the above, you actually skip the game, not finish the game. A character with no skills, no elites, no title, non-pvp, non max weapons/armor/rune is considered as n00b.
