Do you use your secondary?
Serra Knightfang
After playing my Rit all the way to 18 I noticed that I have not used my necro secondary once. I'm sure that in the future I will, but it just hasn't been needed. Is this isolated to just me or has this happened to others too?

my necro rarely uses any secondry proffesion skills, same with my monk and my ranger, however my warrior always uses atleast 3 monk skills, just beacuase thats the way i like it.

I stand by the theory that all the classes can function well as stand-alones. That includes farming, soloing, and both henchy and other player groups. Of course, secondaries can be a great benefit, but are far from necessary. As it stands, my mesmer, ranger, and elementalist rarely use their secondaries (unless I'm going for a particular build or if I want a monk res.). My warrior, on the other hand, has been W/R using a few wilderness survival skills since his creation 11 months ago, and that will not change. Still, even when I kick my secondaries into the mix, it's usually just for a particular skill (or maybe 2) in my skillbar.
Edit: I expect my future assassin to use only assassin skills, too. There are just so many skills I want to use between his 4 attribute lines, there simply isn't enough attribute points to spread as is, let alone with a secondary line.

I do a bit only one skill though

I used my secondary Necro quite a bit. Especially in my earlier levels. It really depends on how you play your character. I've gone through 3 different playing styles with my Ritualist. 2 of the 3 styles relied heavily on my secondary profession.

I have used my Elem secondary quite a bit so far with my Rit. I like channeling and air magic. It is fun.
With my other characters I used the secondaries quite often. My W/R uses at least one if not more Ranger skills. My N/Me uses many Mesmer skills especially domination ones. However, My monk uses just monk skills.

Since I play a support ritualist, my necro secondary helped a bit.
I've used Wells, Enfebbling Blood, Plague Touch, Unholy Feast and some other choice necro skills (not at the same time, useually only 1 at a time)

I use mine off and on, when I use a monk, it is just res. My flameslinger ranger uses conjure flame, my monk a rit use mes to stop being interupted

I've found that I only use 1-2 secondary skills no matter what my profession is. My air spiking Ele/Mes uses all ELe skills, my Mes/Mo uses all Mesmer except a res spell. I will use my secondary for a particular build occasionally but generally use my primary.
Playing a Ri/N now and use minions alot more than secondary skills with other builds I have played.

Rt/N - I used my necro skills and Ritualist spawning to MM while on the island. Sicne the last mission on the island though, I've gone pure healing and haven't touched necro skills once. I'm debating to make room for well of blood though. rend enchantments could also be useful at times.

when i play my monk i never take secondary skills. i need all the healing/prot i can carry.
with other char however, i usually take 2 skills from my secondary. i try to only use 3 attributes also, 2 from primary and 1 from secondary.

I havent unlocked all skills I wanted but I will use it when I will get them as a Rt/R.
Dodo The Extinct
I use my Warrior secondary as a Ritualist alot. They can complement eachother
Aran
I personally just use holy veil & infuse health when I'm playing healer rit and smite hex when I'm playing prot rit... nothing else really.

I try to find skills I can benefit from my secondary like right now im a rit elem and I use pain pain bond blood song and to protect them sorta I use attk against melee but thats the only secondary I use so far hopefully once I get elites it will be eaiser
GunnerMan1

I often use my scondary with my E/Mo, but only usually to res fallen party members or to heal myself every once in a while.
On my rt/a that I am soon going to make, I assume that I will be using ritualist for offensive and defensive and mainly using assassin for shadow stepping (I love that skill!).

This part is good.
![]() On the subject of the OP though, I find that very frequently when I am learning to play a new class, I use solely their skill line and completely ignore my secondary. After I am accustomed to the purpose of that class, I begin to incorporate from a secondary profession. |
