Befriending the Luxons and Kurzicks. Is trading in for Jade/Amber worth it?
Sanji
I was unclear about a lot of things when it came to the whole Faction seesaw thing. Has anyone gathered and kept 10K Faction for both sides?
I'm a lot more interested in having access to different explorable areas than, say, getting trade materials or my guild owning a town.

what would be the point of that? if you have an equal amount of both faction then you wont be able to trade with either side. you are better off just reaching 10k with one side then cash it in and get 10k for the other side and cash that in. then whoever you want to trade with all you have to do is a repeatable quest and your good to go..
Sanji
The point is accessing the locked outposts and being able to reach unlockable elites with multiple characters.
You can't get into The Eternal Grove, for example, unless you do the quest Befriending the Kurzick.

Anyways, the only way to obtain 10k for both sides is to do the repeatible Faction quests. And that can become annoying.
Rogmar
You can do the befriending quest, which requires 10k faction to complete...THEN cash it in, I did =P
Rex the Unloving
challenge missions arent that annoying, theres many ways to do them.

Thanks for your responses guys.
Anyhow, the reason I started this thread is because I wanted to see what everyone else thought about it, because I really don't want to build up 10K faction five tims (IE: Five PvE characters) if there should be an elite skill hidden behind one or the other's blockoff point.
Though, I am noticing Anet wasn't as devious as I had originally thought. Ritual Lord seems to be on the other side of both the 10K faction storyline missions. So maybe I can pick a faction and stick with it for all my characters. :P

I'm a bit confused--
Is it possible to still get to the 15k Armor town for Luxons if you have already done the Befriending the Kurzicks quest? Any answers would be most appreciated, thank you!

I can't do Faction battles for both sides. I'm in a Guild who is Allied with Luxon. :\
Dr Strangelove
I'm still searching for gust on the Luxon side of the fence, looks like I'll have to farm up 10k kurzick....
Sanji
Haha, yeah, I made this thread originally because at the time the only place where I knew to get Ritual Lord was in the Eternal Grove.

I still dont see the problem your having here. If your luxon, go to either the faction transfer or rewards guy and cash in/transfer all your faction, go over to nasty kurzick land and do the befriend quest, do the missions, cap your skill, get your armour, do what ever you want - then cash in all your kurzic faction for amber (sell it or keep it) and then go back to hippy luxon land.
When you get back to the luxons you will have to do ONE quest so that you can get a 400 luxon faction reward (i suggest "Luxon Supply Lines" as it takes under 2 mins), you will be able to trade with them again and everyone is happy!
Im in a Kurzick guild, ive done all the mission from both sides and ive only got three more luxon quests to do, ive got both kurzick and luxon armour. Just because you befriended one side first doesnt mean that you can nvr do anything on the other side.
If for some reason you are choosing "Neutral" then i think you have the wrong idea as being neutral means that you have the same amount of faction for both sides (if you have the same amount of both you cant trade with either)

Like I said earlier, my problem was that I wasn't sure how it'd work for my other PvE characters. I plan on most if not all of them unlocking outposts on both sides.
This was before I noticed the quest that allows you into the Eternal Grove gives (I think) 1250 Kurzick faction. It's not that I wanted them both capped forever, it's that I wanted to not farm up the whole 10K for both sides just so I can get past a certain point.

heres what i did:
1: get up to the 'befriending the luxons/kurzicks' primary quest with one character. do all the quests that give you faction.
2: bring a second character to the same point in the game and get your remaining faction from quests. get 10k of each.
3: bring the rest of your characters to this point.
4: finish the 'befriending the luxons/kurzicks' quests with all your characters at once.
voila. you have all the map access for all your characters, and can now spend your faction as you wish. and yes, you can use both sides armor traders/merchants if you have 10k for both.
