Me and my GF try to solve the PVE storyline missions together without henchmen. She being a Monk/Elementalist and me being a Necro/Mesmer.
So far everything went well but we realized a sudden increase in difficulty once we reached the dwarves. We adapted and it was not that bad anymore. We have some hard times because mostly the mobs swarm her instead of me (just because she is a monk?), sometimes causing a whipe in the storyline missions. Mostly we do fine doing a minion zerg on most groups.
Now at Frost Gate once we passed the Minotaurs (tricky in the beginning) we reached the Bonus mission with the dwarf wanting those plans. At the end of the "secret path" we encounter 4 riders, all being healers. Thats where we are stuck. Is there any way we can get rid of those in an effective way? It seems impossible to counter them healing each other. We tried swarming them with minions, but we cant seem to have those dwarves drop fast enough to get enough horrors plus they tend to eat the corpses pretty fast to heal themselves.
Any clues?

Try seperating them or interrupting them?

Works nice with one or two. 4 healers is kind of hard since they stick together and heal area/heal other without pause.

It's been a long while since I've done the bonus for the Frost Gate. I did this several times in duo teams without henchies. I tend to leave Rornak Stonesledge and don't talk to him until the area (i.e. secret path and the catapult area) is cleared. This means less chance of Rornak getting killed and better aggro control. We always tried to separate the Dolyak Riders so they can't heal one another, or their other drawve friends. I don't know if things have changed since, but this is what we did....
One person remained at the top of the secret path, the other ran in towards the catapult and aggro the drawves and ran back. They will charge and follow. When you break aggro and they start returning, go aggro again. Sooner or later they will split up, more often than not, one or two Dolyak Riders will be the last ones to go back (as the non-riders move faster). Run up to the closest Dolyak Rider and stand next/close to it, it'll wand you but shouldn't do much damage but heal if you have too. When you have it's attention, move back towards your partner slowly, afew steps at a time. The Dolyak Rider will run up to you. Once it's close to you, step back again and let it run to you again. If you move too far from it, it will not follow. Rinse and repeat.
I found hitting the Dolyak Rider will get all the others attention and they'll charge and engage you as you're attacking their buddy. So standing close and letting it come to you in it's own steam seem easier, and doesn't appear to irrate the others. If the others do charge up then run away and break aggro, they don't chase for long. Once aggro is broken, and they return, find the closest Dolyak Rider and continue leading it away from the others.
Once you have slowly led the Dolyak Rider far enough up the hill, and away from the others, you can both attack it. It should be dead before it's buddies have a chance to come to it's aid. Once it's dead run away if you have to and repeat the process for the others. Once the healers are dead, the others shouldn't pose much of a problem.
Once the area is cleared then go back and talk to Rornak Stonesledge to start the bonus.
It is a slow process but it worked for our two man teams.
Hope this helps.

I agree with Caged Fury. Try to pull the lead Dolyak away. You will usually get two of them, which is much more manageable than four. I guess, if all else fails, take LordMahal's advice. I bet you could tag along with a high-level player who is re-doing the mission to map the area. I know I've been doing that lately. Good luck.

Yeah they seem to be seperated into groups of 2. I ran up there while exploring the mission (alone i may add) before heading into the next area. Only 2 of the 4 Dolyaks agroed so i guess you can lure them away, usually with monks though they're awkward gits so just heal people anyway if they're close enough. Just keep going at 1 of them, they can't keep healing forever
Cirian
Yeah, you should find that you can separate them into 2 pairs.

We tried it several times, they dont seperate. They dont even attack, they sit there and chainheal those 4 dwarves who shred us to pieces. We ran in, i put hexes on them, we ran and all followed us...we waited till they turned and pulled again, just to see the whole group to chase us again. This is really tough stuff.
Plus i am having this teleporting problem where i "teleport" into the dwarves and get stuck between them, maybe its lag i dont know. Hell of annoying.
I guess we skip the secondary mission.
