Anyone else notice that there were fewer options for characters in the expantion, and, it's not as if they "added" some looks, they took all the old ones out... meaning, Canthan born Characters all pretty much look the same.
The arguement about playable races comes into this. I think it's really important that they add more options for the appearance of your character. Just so you don't look indentical to everyone else running around... PARTICULARLY since the whole game is really based on looks, rather than being powerful.
Anyways. Having 2 parts of the armor to dye would be great, so, you can dye the armor detail, and the armor backgroup. Have a set up a bit like the cape design, for example.
A few playable races would be good, and make you feel more like a character than a minion. Really... anything... :/
Poor Character Customisation?

Well, really what I'm doing here is benchmarking GW against all other forms of RPG's of a similar ilk. Not just ones with online MMO type options.
One thing that can be said for GW though, is all characters look incredable. Really ace looking characters, unlike others. Which is the only reason it's such a pity there's limited options for looking awesome.
I'm not bitching as much as I'm expressing frustraition that characters look awesome, but making that character distinctive isn't really possible.

Unfortunately, this only add on to the debate whether faction should really be a stand-alone or just an expansion. (Don't debate it here)
I think it would make sense for Anet to add some European and African faces to Cantha selection as Tyria has some Asian faces too. I suppose they missed it.
However, if they do continue to add the same number of faces... Anet then are in for a hell by chapter 7. Anet should take a look at what PSU (Phantasy Star Universe) did with their face customization, then no complain from the players would occur again.

I don't understand why people automatically assume that all of Cantha is Asian. The continent Cantha is made up of 3 nations: the Canthans, the Luxons and the Kurzicks, just like Tyria is made up of Ascalon, Kryta, Maguuma, etc (except in Cantha they all owe allegiance to the Canthan Empire). So technically, our characters should be allowed to have Kurzick or Luxon type faces, since Kurzicks and Luxons are allowed to attend the Monastery.

Back to the OP: I agree, I don't understand why they could have merged the customization of the two games for those of us who purchased it as an expansion rather than a stand-alone.

They reused stuff between the female professions, too, particularly hair styles.
And again, I assumed the new head/hair would be available to characters starting in both Cantha and Tyria. This "merged" content just didn't work out very well at all.

I too was very disappointed that I couldn't use say tyrian faces with cathan hair on a new character. if i merged both chapters, i see absolutely no reason not to have access to options like that. meh ... i'm becoming less and less happy that i merged my accounts as time goes on

Well when you talk about "Character Customisation" do you mean just face and highth or everything? From as face, highth, and weight, yes they are lacking. If your taking everything in account inculding armor, skills, color useage, weapon choice then no it's not lacking. Just people chose the same thing in fear of oringalilty. Or they just want the most powerful armor or weapons which are usually Shadow,Mursaat,Ethernal, Storm, Green, ect.
The customability is truely endless if people stop using the same thing. You see alot of capes have the same colors and symbols becuase they look "cool" . Or they pick the same skill sets becuase "They work" or "they are the best." It's not the game but the players who lack oringality and imagenation period.
