I like the fact that you can leave the game idle in the background on the sign-in screen and download all the files you need to play. However, I'd like it to go one step further and actually decompress all those files after they're done downloading.
Due to some problems I've been having updating I've been keeping in touch with support and going over several fixes, most of which have required me to essentially reinstall the game from scratch. Downloading the files is generally no problem as I tend to do it overnight but then the next time I log into one of my characters I have to wait for a 8,000+ file decompression followed by the same for several hundred files for each new zone I go into.
And before anyone mentions it, I know you can avoid a hefty download/decompression by saving your old .DAT file. However, in an effort to solve my problem I've been following the instructions from support to the letter and they suggested each time for me not to reuse the old .DAT. It also doesn't help if a person doesn't have an old .DAT to use anyway.

Anything to help improve the gaming experience of fellow Guild Wars players, is a good thing and hence must be supported.

run gw.exe with the -image option and it will decompress all the files.

Thanks for the link! I'm going to give it a try and leave the game running overnight so hopefully it'll be set by morning.
