Extra Slots.. Rumors or True?
xenoranger
I was in a google search for slots and read that ANet planned to sell the ability to add individual slots to your account. This way you wouldn't have to repurchase the game every time you want to add new characters. Can anyone confirm or declair false that claim?
Tainek
its a true claim, its coming this summer

This is true, posted awhile ago on guildwars.com
It will be available in "summer", whatever that means.
I plan on using the $20 I saved off the CE to buy a couple, although I'll still miss the Kuunavang pet!

$10 bucks a slot.

At $10 a slot, will you be able to span them across all campaigns you own? If so, it may be worth it to pick up 1 or 2 slots. Especially since I have a cow to support now too (dang small storage).

GWP - 4 slots , GWF - 2 slots
Additional Slots $10/ea.
To make up for the lost of 2 slots when merged $20
Total cost of GWF = $70.

You can google search, now forumsearch :X

Not that I'm really using all of my slots, but I guess it would be nice to have 9 slots at some point, so that I can make a PVE character of every profession, and have a slot to roll a PVP char if I need to.
I might wanna get 15 slots so I can roll one of every class for each campaign. Bwahahaha but that's a long way off. There's really not a difference between Tyrians and Canthans in end game anyway :P

I plan on buying two more slots... I want to see what its like to make something like an ele or monk in Cantha...

Here's my thought...
I'd like to have a PvE of every class. I wouldn't mind having an extra for my Cow, although I think ANet should just increase the storage size. I wouldn't mind paying $5 to get an extra page or two of storage.

There's no mention of a limit on the number of slots. All it really says is that you may purchase more for 9.95. I am wondering if this will only apply to those whom have not bought Factions? (Giving everyone the oppertunity to have six char) Or will everyone be able to purchase more, and if so will there be a limit to the number you can have? I think eight would be the most as it's pretty crowded on the char log in screen with six.
Linksys
I'm sure they can adjust the character selection screen to fit more if they want. Even if it's a horizontal scrolling bar at the bottom. For the price of 9.95, you could rush a new character to post, put two runes of holding on it, and use that as more storage. But yeah, more general storage would be nice.

It could end up like a King of Fighters or Mortal Kombat Trilogy character selection screen if you purchase enough. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the screen shots. There's barely any room to show the characters as it's completely filled with just portraits for selection.
What they'd probably have to do is allow you to cylce through characters by hitting toward the edges. If you ahve more than 8 (b'c I can't see them fitting more than 8 on the screen) when you press left at the character furthest left, it would have to more all teh characters to teh right to fit the newest in and your furthest right character would drop off. That's the only way I can see them allowing people to continue purchasing slots without really mucking it up or rebuilding the interface. Although, they could add a text logon, where you get a text list of your characters (kinda like viewing details instead of icons/thumbnails in a windows directory.)

There are 8 classes as of now, so that would make the number of combos possible in accordance with the binary configuration to be 2^8 - 8, which is 56. So if I purchase an additional 50 slots I will have all of the current possible chars coverd, at the meager fee of $500 -- woot woot!

though I plan to wait for storage implementation - if their idea of aid is buy mules, I'm done.

But I'm going to slow down pouring more $ in if the model is nickle and dime now, ie why give them reasonable storage options as they go, we'll just make them buy mules as necessary.
xenoranger
Well. that's just silly to buy mules. The expansion to Diablo II doubled storage. I was hoping with factions, they'd double Xulani as well.
Still, with all the different materials you need to keep on hand (to reduce costs of high price armor) as well as other collectables (rare items...etc), storage is definintely an issue. And Mule/Cow/whatever isn't a reasonable solution. having to switch cuts into game time which means you spend more time swaping items in storage than playing.
Not a good practice

Something that would help with storage a LOT is an auction house! *suggests yet again*

I just hope they go on sale soon, I really want to have a PvE char for each primary profession and a PvP slot as well

xenoranger
well.. people also need to collect materials and such. B/c of materials, I needed a cow. This covers all of my character's marterials and such.
I added a 2nd cow for runes and dye (don't ask, I just collect dye).
