He would not be in a Chapter 1 accessible area with a Chapter 2 skill. But I wonder if there's some other way to check out Shiro?
OTOH, that seems unusually late in the game, to me.

I can't find heal as one on Wiki....as for assassin's promise, i bet Anet will fix that in the next update or so
16 May 2006 at 02:33 - 43
Heal As One is one of the easiest caps to get outside of Jade Quarry on the Kurzick side.

Aforementioned thread:
Heal As One: Salke for Friend (Warden, Melandru's Hope, just outside of Jade Quarry)

the funny thing about the heal as one boss is that before the update he had lacerate like any good warden ranger type should. as for assassin's promise... brittany spears would say: oops a-net did it again!

look what my mesmer caught with arcane thievery
Stolen from a Shadow Blade Assassin during the 'Lambs to the Slaughter' quest. Unfortunately there is no boss (2% morale is from killing an afflicted boss).
There are several assassin bosses during the 'Challenge' quest. Maybe one of them has the skill. You get the quest in the Shenzun Tunnels entering from Maatu Keep.
EDIT: Just did that quest. The 4 named enemies don't have boss status. No morale and no elites to cap .
EDIT2: I should have wiped my IGN from the picture. I'm already getting random whispers .
Here is some information about the quest during which i caught the skill:

hehe its Salke Furr Friend dear.... Makes more sense that way to.
I had to read it twice while getting that cap last night. But its Furr as in furry animal friend or something *shrugs* It was one of the wierder boss names I have seen.
16 May 2006 at 19:01 - 48
5 bucks says that it's on an Oni in the forest that you won't even see until you get close enough for it to pop in. Crazy little oni.
16 May 2006 at 19:23 - 49
I was just south of House zu Heltzer last night and cam across a Mantis Assassin Boss that I am 60% sure had the Assassin Promise. Since I was playing a Necro I did not pay enough attention to say 100% for sure.

a bug prevents the boss from spawning properly.
So short of hitting the signet of capture in arbitrary locations, I am at a loss. I posted this in another thread, but let me say it here as well. Has anybody seen ANY monster use Assassin's Promise at all? If so, where?
There is a 4th option: The boss could be interchangeable with another one, like the two Coldstone bosses of Perdition Rock.
16 May 2006 at 20:36 - 51
If it was it would be a unique boss, so far every boss has been in the same place always, even if it needs a quest to be active to get it.
I vote next time Gaile comes on we ask her to ask the devs where it is. it's looking more like a glitch every day.
PS checked South of HZH and zip, There was an assasin Warden but that did'nt have AP
16 May 2006 at 20:40 - 52
I've yet to see the elite skill used by any regular hostile (the ones roaming around EAs). As soon as the assassin-type hostile is found, it's just a matter of scouring the areas they exist to find the appropriate boss.
16 May 2006 at 20:46 - 53
I think if we all send bug reports to anet then they will take note and do something about it.By either telling us where it is or putting the boss in.
16 May 2006 at 21:04 - 54
Well, as far as the theory goes about the boss being on an Oni ... if Factions is anything like Prophecies the boss won't be buried.
AFAIK, any creature that buries itself (hides, whatever you want to call it) will always be revealed already if it's a boss. Think devourer bosses, grasping ghoul bosses, shadow-bosses in Prophecies: they are all above-ground even though their monster type (the normal, non-boss variety) are almost always buried.
If this is different in Factions, someone correct me, as I haven't been all the way through it yet
Otherwise, we should make an assassin promise to tell us where it is

How could you forget about Maw? Only the biggest boss in the whole friggin game. Kinda surprised he doesn't tear the whole mountain up when he comes up to eat you...
16 May 2006 at 22:04 - 57
yeah but he's revealed pretty quickly - lol
16 May 2006 at 22:16 - 58
Ah yes forgot about maw ... I suppose he's the only one though (and I think the only wurm boss) I try and stay away from Dreadnaught's as much as possible now that the chests are no longer there
That's what I get for making a blanket statement
16 May 2006 at 22:23 - 59
Im not sure but I sort of remember a sin boss using it arround the monestery?? Maybee... Im only like 10% sure.... So.. If im wrong dont yell at me.. im just throwing in a posibility...

with 0.1% of the map left to map and knowing there was a messup the first time (after most of it was mapped), it's not a challenge anymore to find it..
17 May 2006 at 04:19 - 62
Ive pretty much reexplored all lux and kurzick territory, cleared every zone and walked every inch of it. No hidden bosses, no Assassin's Promise.
17 May 2006 at 07:42 - 63
there is a named kraken in rhea's crater called focus of hanaku. i believe whne gaile checked that they werre like yeah the boss is in there. i don't believe that they checked he had the intended skill set or an aura. right now he is a mesmer with energy drain as an elite, which is nothing new since most krakens are mesmers, however caps whose elites aren't found anywhere in the game are often one shot bosses that are off-type for their class. as enegy surge is cappable in the city, and most of the city caps are one shot caps (barring quests), and this kraken is alone among 5 groups of afflicted, i'm thinking they put the boss in but forgot to make him a boss. focus of hanaku ftl >.<

Have people checked the area where Shiro banishes people?

No bosses in that area. Wouldnt make sense anyway if there was, would be rather difficult to kill solo.
My support ticket just got forwarded to QA, so hopefully the devs will add a boss to the game soon.
18 May 2006 at 13:55 - 66
The TYPE of enemy that holds Assassin's Promise has been confirmed as Shadow Blade Assassins.
Since Shadow Blade enemies only show in Quests (as far as I know)...people have been redoing quests and such looking...No Cappable Shadow Blade Assassin yet...
:\ This cruddy skill is getting alot of attention.

Confirmed by who, where?
If true, I think there are two quests where you find these guys. One is where you are supposed to eavesdrop on them, and one is a 'challenge' where multiple gangs show up.

Having done both of those quests recently, neither of them have a cappable boss. The "challenge" one does indeed have four enemies with unique names, but none of them have the boss glow. Furthermore, I brought a cap sig along, tried it, and was not allowed to use it.
18 May 2006 at 17:03 - 69
I just finished that quest: Lambs to the Slaughter. And the Blade Assassins had no boss among them nor did they use Assassin's Promise.
Could be that my teammates weren't dead enough for the Blade Assassins to use the Elite skill tho.
19 May 2006 at 03:23 - 70
Theres holes everywhere in the slums, and waves of mobs pop out of them. After about the 3rd or 4th wave or so, an assasin boss pops out of it. Check every hole with a pop out boss in the city.
19 May 2006 at 09:31 - 71
Annoyed me to no end when maw died underground, so I couldnt cap FoC had to go rezone.
19 May 2006 at 10:49 - 72
LOL samifly
My hunch is this boss is an Oni lurking in the deepest darkest corners of cantha waiting topop out and kill you...kinda like maw
19 May 2006 at 12:28 - 73
There's an oni boss in Harvest Temple, but as we said earlier he doesn't have it. There's also an oni boss that pops out from nowhere in the southeast corner of echovald near the warrior boss down there (outside Amatz Basin a bit), but he didn't have it either.

new update a few minutes ago.
Quote:
Update - Friday May 19
* Made it possible to stack two or more scrolls of the same type in a single inventory slot. (Scrolls created before today's update will not stack.)
* Made it possible to capture the elite skill Assassin's Promise.
* Fixed bugs and made improvements to the following quests: A Formal Introduction, To Tahnnakai Temple, Stolen Eggs, The Convocation, and Welcome to Cantha.
* Fixed a bug in The Deep that caused some players to crash when clicking on flowers.
* Adjusted the difficulty of the following repeatable quests: Luxon Supply Lines, The Jade Arena, and Duel of the Houses.
* Improved the skill set of Kurzick NPCs.
* Improved the skill set of Creeping Carp.
* Updated the Balthazar faction rewards in Shing Jea Arena to their appropriate values.
* Modified the Zaishen arenas so that win streaks no longer contribute to progress in earning the Gladiator title.
assassin's promise has been added somewhere... but where?
20 May 2006 at 03:37 - 75
Woot the bug report worked, nice that they fixed it =). Now we gotta find it.
ED: BTW the 20k still stands. Happy skill hunting!
20 May 2006 at 03:48 - 76

20 May 2006 at 03:53 - 77
