Spotted this in Kaineng a couple of minutes ago and it kinda made me laugh:

Spamming auction URLs? This is a new one on me.

You just cut out 80% of the market. However, I can see your point.

perhaps, but thats how i feel about it. im tired of not being able to even begin to get groups going with the constant WTS spam where it has no bussiness

This is pretty stupid. Who would take the time to exactly copy that url over? It's not like GW has a hotlink feature.

I don't think this has any future.

It was actually two different URLs they copied over, I took out the numbers for obvious reasons .

I agree though, I can't see anyone noting down auction URLs in game to go have a look at later.

Up arrow?? Hellllo? ^^^^

I once was up arrowing through 3 post IN THE TRADE CHAT, and some goofball told me they were going to report me since I was obviously using a program to post them that fast lol.

Up arrow doesn't allow you to copy previous messages.

It does allow you to put what you last typed into the text bar, and what you typed before that too

Did any of you think Mosch might just have meant that no-one is gonna sit there and copy the URL into there Int-Explorer?

Pressing up arrow doesn't exactly help you copy messages sent by other people...

Was on the other day and watched 2 people hold a conversation in the trade channel why everyone else was spamming sales in the chat channel. My head almost exploded.

I've been considering that for ages Mainly in ToA where you have little choice...

This issue isn't really with the players... it's with the game. Where's the incentive to sell things using the trade window...? Why would you want to? It's a less "stand out" color for starters.

If there were other means of selling things... say like, dare I say it, AUCTION HOUSES, we wouldn't have this problem.

Switch the trade to a stand out color, and the chat to a less stand out color, and you'd see a switch. Personally, every time I've tried to sell things, I've had buys from the CHAT chat only, never the trade chat...

Actually, it's exactly this attitude that's the problem, and it is players that are at fault. Inconciderate players that seem to believe that items are the only reason to play the game. Let me give you a correlary.

Let's say you're playing GW, and while out on the field, you find several billboards for everything from the Prima GW guides to Coka-Cola and Pepsi products. Sure, you *could* just ignore them, but that doesn't make them go away. They get in the way, it's unsightly, and I don't want constant add boards getting in the way of what's really important.

That's what the WTS spam in Local chat reminds me of. Obviously, these people are so self centered that they just want to get their message out regardless of who else may be there. It may sound really strange, but when someone wants to buy or sell something, they usually turn on the Trade Chat and use that. I do, at least. And, when they are not looking for anything, they turn off the trade channel, because they don't want the adds bombarding thier partyforming/conversations. It's a mess, and it's irritating.

I know it's a meager attempt now, and I try to ignore the sales spam, but it's just so damned annoying sometimes. Not nearly as annoying as how offended the spammer gets if you ask them to move it to the trade channel. I've had my head chewed off by sellers when I asked them to do this so many times, I just don't even try anymore.

Well, if all the worlds problems were addressed by trying to change attitude, we wouldn't get very far now would we.

Fact of the matter remains, you have a few choices of chat box to sell things and one of those boxes stands out more and is likely to be seen by more people. There's nothing to discourage people from using it, so, they do.

The issue is with the game, not with the people. You have to sit down and accept the fact that people would rather sell an item, than appear to have a good attitude towards guildwars.

Well all know that the Trade channel is never used and the Local channel is always used and it's annoying as hell.

Anyways, I don't see that type of trading (URL-style) has any future. You don't even know what item it is, so you're not going to spend time writing down the URL and then looking it up only to see that it's not something you want.
