I’m trying to explore 100% of the Tyria map and one of the last obvious places I have left is Lornar’s pass. I have fought my way to this area with henchies and have no problem until I get to the entrance of the pass itself. I get three frost wurms that just wipe out the whole party right away.
I have tried eating candy canes to lower the dp but it just doesn’t work, the henchies and I cant kill the wurms. As soon as the three wurms pop up half of the group instantly dies, and between the wurms and the Avicara at the entrance to the pass the rest of us go right down.
Aren’t three wurms a bit of overkill?
Do the three wurms always pop up or is it random?
I get three every time I’ve tried.
Any tips on clearing this area?
Is running the "ONLY" way to get through this area? I've equipped running skills but do not consider myself very knowledgable on running.
EDIT - Im coming from Beacon's, (btw: the whole trip south of Lornar's pass is cleared from various skill capping trips)
Thanks for any suggestions.

Are you coming from Rankor's or Beacon's?
By the time I made it to the pass, me and my 7 henchmen were all at 60 DP. I got two wurms and I just could not get past them. I ended up finally getting them run out away from the mouth of the pass and ran around them the next time through.
I also just ran to the spawn point by Beacon's so that when I die, I respawn there and not wayyyyy back at the entrance to Dreadnaught's Drift.
[EDIT: 1 wurm is doable, even badly DP'ed, but two or more is death]

You don't stand a chance in hell using the low level henchman. I went to Lornars Pass with a friend a couple of days after the exploration title was added. I ran from Rankor with my R/W, then we fought to Maw to hug the wall where he is, then i ran to Lornars. You can explore from that side easily, i just spent the whole time i was there spamming Shields Up and Watch Yourself while the team did the damage. 2 Wurms can severely own a full party of Rankor henchman, never mind 3.

best place to start is warcamp, 8 slot party and mhleno!

It's not that hard from Beacon's. You can survive the tunnel using serveral well-known techniques. For example you could use a stance tank with dolyak signet to aggro the worms and then kill them with the rest of the party. Just move a bit if the worm doesn't attack the tank and he'll pop out at another position (hopefully next to the tank
. Another way is using a Bonder or Barrierer which protects the whole group. But even then the worm should attack the warrior as he's the one with the best armor.
It is possible, with the right tactics even easy, to get trough Lornar's. But it is essetial that your team consists of fully equipped high level characters with a bit experience.

Yes, definitely start from the Warcamp with henchies.
It’s actually fairly easy, though tedious & time consuming to clear all the way back to Beacons, and the henchies are very patient about the whole map clearing thing.
What has worked really well for me with the wurms is to take it slowly right after the bridge where they first appear. Make sure you don’t agro the crawl or whatever is in the area.
Worst case you can always run back to the bridge to regroup.
Having an interrupt skill lined up is handy as is having a degen of some sort…like poison (ranger) or rotten flesh (necro) – hit the wurm with the degen as soon as you can and let the green line do its thing. Then just stand your ground, you’ll only get hit by one wurm at a time, it just might move about a bit. Stay healed and be aware of the degen the wurm hits the entire party with (Feast of Corruption & Life Transfer. I think.) It usually takes me three wurm pop-ups before the mob is dead. Once you have figured what works for your build on the first wurm...the rest are fairly easy and you might even look forward to the smack down.

I found it easier and quicker to start from Rankor than the War Camp. Either way it is henchable to clear the entire Pass with henchies from those two areas.
I mapped the entire Pass and had +10 Morale going into the Pass. Degen and interrupt will save you and your henchmen!

Yeah. I found myself wishing, on a large number of occasions, that I had some interupt skill.
