Zos Shivras Channel and Luxon points?

I am stuck for 2 days in Zos Chivras Channel. There is not many people there.
It seems that challenge is very boring.

But is it true u need to get 10k luxon points to be able to go further in the map?
I mean I could do a couple of quest giving Lux points (Can we Get Along in Tyria and the mapper).Then do the challenge about 20 times. But it seems a pretty annoying thing.

And then next question is, my guild leader doesnt get Factions for some reasons. He is willing to lend me the lead to join luxon side. Then I give him back the lead.

Would that work? And how would I do that?
