I think there is one thing that really should be changed in guildwars and that is the point that characters are worth nothing to theyr owners now.

What i mean is that everyone has got 4+ characters and they make new ones all the time and stuff. I would instead love to have only 1 or 2 characters, but be able to keep them forever without having any problems.

So i would love to have a change in the whole system like this:

First you choose the campaign. (ex. prophecies)
Then you choose a race. (ex. ascalonian)
*Stop! with choose a race i dont mean choose an elve and ork or ahuman but i mean choose to be from different places of the country. For example an ascalonian looks like a warrior, a maguuman looks like a ranger, etc.*
Then you choose your gender. (ex. female)
Then you choose how your face should look like. (ex. long brown hair, small blue eyes, small nose, full lips, pointy ears and a bit rectangular face)
*For the face you can choose the look and the color of the hair, the look and the color of the eyes, the look of the nose, the look of the mouth, the look of the ears and the general form of the face.*
Then you choose the look of your body. (ex. tall, small head, long neck, big breast, big stomach, small arms, big hands, big legs, small feet and pale)
*For the body you can choose the height, the head size, the neck size, the breast size, the stoamch size, the arm size, the hand size, the leg size, the foot size and the skin color.*
Finally you create your name. (ex. miss cribs)

By doing all this stuff you have a very unique looking character, plus you dont have a selected profession. This way there should be profession trainers who teach you a primary profession, and that you can change anytime (by doing quests like the secondary profession change one).

This way you could be able to keep your unique looking character forever, and dont have to bother doing a new one if you want another primary profession because you only have to go to a primary trainer to do so.

thats a really BIG change to the creation system. You'd need universal armour that is wearable no matter what your character looks like, and that would be for each profession. Currently it's physically impossible for a mesmer to wear warrior armour, because the build structure of both characters is mismatched.

Also, you're increasing the amount of armour people are going to end up carrying, and add more stress on demands for storage.

sorry^^ didn't mean to run down your thread:

What's the point of having multiple character slots if you can just change both primary and secondary at a whim? Sorry I can't see the point in this at all aside from creating unnecessary code and unnecessary work for the development staff.

As to it being physically impossible for a mesmer to wear warrior armor...You do not know that for a fact. If the meshes that each class was created from had a common base or template mesh then it is quite possible for armors to be made to fit one another.

Mesh deforming has been around for quite some time and most every game that does varied body sizes for clothes/armor/costumes uses a mesh deforming system to change the basic mesh to fit whatever bodytype/adjustments someone has made. Only in really old engines like Neverwinter Nights will you find segmented bodies where each piece of armor had to be made anew for every single permutation that someone wanted.

I be it is quite within Anets realm to do something along these lines with less difficulty then you think.

More options is good

The implementation of this idea would take way too long due to the differences in structure among different people, in regard to armor, and end up causing graphics issues

The point of choosing a class to play is to play it, if you want a new character, make a new character. There is no reason at all to want to change primary professions.

What I am more worried about is, that squishie wearing warrior armour and having 100AL vs physical.

In general, its making your character less special. And as people already said, you want to have 6+ sets of armour in your invent?

I do think in later chapters ANet should implement different races. However, I don't want GW to turn into an EQ2 clone with Dwarves/Elves etc. I also don't mean an entire "choose your race" option, but more that the new classes are different races.

wudn't you like too know...

Noobs Of Steel

well, eventually they will run out of class ideas. i mean, think about it now, wut other class ideas cud u have that wudnt be similar to suymthin else?

ex.
ritualist is basically a combo of ranger and necro (spirit/minions thing) and monk (healing)
assassin, basically a squishie warrior, kinda like a tanking ele o mez.

sure, mo classes r good, but after maybe 10 or so, they will begin to get exremely repetitive, and it will be difficult not to copy ideas from other games (bards, scouts, spies, etc.)

That kind of thing is super easy to control. All anet has to do, and they've alredy done it, is flag x armor allowable to be worn only by x main profession.

Even if deforming / shaping a body was limited per class that would give more options for people to look different from each other. Currently all you see are different clones of each other running around.

However if the OP wanted a universal body armor to fit everyone then I'd have to disagree. Anet has different armor levels ingame specifically for balance and energy regen. I didn't read that in their post though, just the ability to customize your character in different stages.
