Viper's Nest UW trapping
Wyvern King
If you replace barbed or spiked with vipers, how does it affect trapping? Haven't tried it yet, curious to know. Discuss.
SnipiousMax
I don't see it replacing barbed trap. General Idea of UW trapping is to kill them all at once...so poison just isn't going to fit the bill.
Wolydarg
Viper's Nest is also BM, right?

I'm sure this was brought up before factions came out too.
Like Snipeous said, the point is to make them explode, if they have time to degen to death, your doing it wrong.

But wouldn't the extra degen help if they don't all die immediately? I recognize that lots of people do kill them automatically, but I'm thinking that if they don't (which sometimes does happen), the extra degen would make sure they die without having to trap a load more times. Or does the extra damage of barbed offset that anyway?
Also, I was thinking that the EW (BM spirit, I'm pretty sure) person would take viper's. Apparently not. Ah well, there goes any chance of even better trapping

if you can't make them explode instantly, then I suggest you re-think your strategy of UW trapping, or get another puller.
Ranger Rog
To gain any advantage from the poison degen in Viper's nest you would have to put points into BM to lengthen the poison duration, which is pretty short at its base level. That would mean robbing them from WS or Exp and limiting the effectiveness and/or raising the cost of your other traps. Also, smites can't be poisoned.

I suppose the trapper who takes EW could take it, been as they wouldn't exactly be dropping extra points into BM for no reason. But on no account should anyone else ever take it.

My strategy is sound, I think. Most of the time they go bang instantly, but occasionaly if someone doesn't bring right skills in 3man then things are left with a little health. It was just an idea, which I now see is stupid

well what i do for 3 man the EW trapper takes vipers nest for extra degen just incase the other 2 take barbed it seems to work fine.

The idea to bring Viper's Nest is far from being stupid...It just works fine is you go soloing the UW with a R trapper. In that case, you cannot hope to kill an Aatxe in just one shot. So rather than bringing spike trap, the best is to take Viper's nest and Poison arrow and a good bow (i.e. a bow lenghtening poison by 33%). The rest is about managing bulls
One could say "hey, bring spike trap and poison preparation, then". Yes, but I don't why, it does not work fine with me...So often, it is just so easy to have the possibility to shot the aatxe when you want it with a poison arrow rather than to launch the preparation and shot it...Moreover, the poison will last 28 s which is a lot, longer than with the prep.
With Nightfall coming (another good trap and toxicity
), the UW is going to be easy for solo trapper...
