I'm not doing so good.

Are you saying that in your time of playing GW all you played was your W/Mo? The same build with the same Elite? I don't recall any warrior skills being nerfed lately - in fact some were improved at the last skill balance. If it makes you 'feel crap' - give up. Take a step back and realise that its only a game. If that was my worst problem I'd be grateful.

I have no money or anything and I need a fresh start, but I don't know what kind of character to make. I wanted to be a Ritualist, because they look cool, but they suck. All the Guild Wars fansites don't have any new builds or maps and I'm VERY frustrated right now. I'm not good at Guild Wars, but when people help me create a cool character and stuff, I like to play it. I feel like I got screwed over when this game came out, and I shouldn't have bought it, or atleast, I shouldn't have linked it to my old account, because I have to look at my nerfed FoW character everytime I log in. You have no idea how bad this feels.
I ask one thing. How do I enjoy Guild Wars? |
having a warrior thats already built up is a great start. the warrior is probably the easiest character in GW to learn to play, and i think theyre the most versatile. they can run, they can tank, they can deal consistantly high damage, and theyre tough as nails in PvE so you can get away with more mistakes with them. as far as armor goes, glads armor with knights boots combo with the corresponding weapon helm is still the best out there. until someone proves different, thats what ill always use. as far as the warrior getting nerfed- like someone said already, no nerf can truly stop a warrior because of their versatility. if a certain area you play or skill that you use got changed, there are PLENTY of other options for you.
its natural to hit road-blocks in game every now and then, and you sound like youre kind of in a rut right now. but take the warrior out, buy some new skills and try out different things. you dont need a lot of money for that either. head over to the "campfire" section here and practice troll farming and by the time you have a few skillpoints to spend, youll have the money to buy em by selling the drops. im on a mission to cap every elite in prophesies with my warrior now, so i can personally vouch for that.
all that said, dont be contrained by JUST playing the warrior. thats the beauty of GW to me - you can play it many different ways with many different classes. start a ritualist. im sure they dont suck, but from what ive read about them, my guess is that theyre a class that shines when youve got other real people around you and not dumbass thom, alicia the tank, and orions not-so-better late than never firestorm. just realize that with new characters, YOU have to adapt and learn to play in new ways.
anyway, best of luck to you. hope this helps a bit.

Feet and hands are hit the least often of the body parts, and ascalon armor no longer applies its benefits globally. Scrapping a character because you have 2 more energy in exchange for a couple reduced damage on the two least hit parts of your armor would be ridiculously silly.
As for the elite, you can always simply go capture it. But your friend doesn't sound like he knows a great deal about how GW really works, so I'd be cautious about just accepting his advice as the final say.

Um seeing how upset you are, I'm thinking you made a super-tank somehow that allowed you the mass farm moneh. Seeing how you don't know that you can't sell armor and seeing how you say you don't have any Major runes but only minor runes on it tells us you = noob and noob with awsome stuff = eBayer. I'm sorry if your not an eBayer or if you got the stuff fair + square but seriously...

I'm going to be kinder then some of the posters here. You sound to me like you may be young, which is not a bad thing.
That being said a fully decked out warrior in nice armor and (i'm assuming) weapons can be very versitile. You have the whole game in front of you to explore. Let's cover some basic things.
Death is not terrible in this game, outside of having to re-enter a place like FoW which costs money. One trip to town and you're back to normal. This lets you test all sorts of builds for different things, lets you find skills you enjoy using.
If you were a stance tank then there are still places you can tank, however you won't be able to hold aggro by holding an item and really that was easy mode for parties. You can still have some stances and dish out damage.
Check out the Warrior forum for a variety of builds for doing different things. You can go farm ettins for some money if you wish, or sand wurms or even jade scarabs (icky mobs) with the right build and in the warrior forums they have talked about alot of different builds and can give you feedback on what you are trying to do.
So if you enjoy playing the game in general then just forget the old rut you were stuck in and try some of the new things that have been posted and go have fun in different areas.
On a side note...Ascalon/Knights minus to damage is still global as has been tested by reliable people like Ensign. The new bonus' in are not global but the Knights reduction stays global, even on factions armor.
Hope that helps.

Wow... honestly... take henchies around and kill stuff and raise some money so you can afford a capture signet. Then find where you can get your new elite skill.
Then go farm, like you're obviously borderline suicidal about not being able to do anymore, and be like every other 13-year-old with no time on their hands.
Christ.
I had outfitted two characters in 15k and got my farming build nerfed, leaving me with the little I had thought I could build from by casually farming some more. I got hit by ANet's nerf bat as well, but do you see me starting sympathy threads asking for donations like I'm some lesser developped country starving and suffering from AIDS?
No. So why should you?
Get over it. Move on. You're not going to get any "oh that sucks, here's my life savings" from here.
And by the way, Factions missions are harder - you can't solo them. Don't whine to us about that because there's nothing we can/will do about it.
