Profession idea: The Scapegoat
healthsoldier0570
The Scapegoat would be cool I think. This is what it's main purpose would be: It has a special skill that attracts all enemies to try to kill him/her. Even if the enemy is being attacked by another player (e.g. Warrior), it will keep attacking the Scapegoat. All the monks have to worry about is keeping that player alive. The necro could give it an energy regen to help it keep the spell on. Help me think of new ideas such as: skill names, looks, weapons, armor, etc.

Miss your precious booktrick, eh?

change the name to 'wammo' and make its primary attribute 'Pwnzing Nubs'? That's all I can think of..

Just help me out with this idea and don't screw around, I am trying to have fun here.

well, at least come up with a better idea than scapegoat... I would class this as a mesmer skill than an entire profession. It would still be bad as well, no way will you be able to use it in PvP.
Jessyi
Sure, it'd work. Just make the spell have a 99% HP sacrifice with an additional 10% sacrifice every second that the enchantment (or stance) is in place. Oh, and it should be used in PvP alot. ALOT.

One of the beauties of GW unlike all the other MMOs out there is its lack of a concrete "hate" system. This would introduce one, thus reducing GW's charm.

Well, yes.
Taunt and Lure type of skill has been suggested around.
How would it work in PvP?
Well, the better suggested skill would be something like:
Attack Me:
Hex. for the duration of T seconds, target will suffer -X HP degen, unless he is striking You.
Feel free to put up better skills of similar type.
Of couse, a entire new class build with this would be a big NO NO.

My theory is that ANET wanted it gone, but introduced the ashes so as to greatly reduce the complaints that would occur when the "book/gear/keg trick" got removed, because there were too many people who wanted it to stay.

It would be challenging to make a whole new class off of this idea. It would be better as one skill. Probably should be mesmer to because there the ones that trickory and that jazz.
Although it probably wouldn't work as a class, it could be a good skill if made just right. Maybe it could be placed on a warrior and a warrior could be your scapegoat. after all, there the ones with armor buffs and miss stances.

Haggard
Well, theres already skills that are useless in PvP. That ranger shout one, that makes all nearby wild animals attack your target.
Dark Psychotik
I agree that the idea of an aggro attracter should be down to a (most likely mesmer) skill, I don't think that the one idea of aggro grabbing could go to a class, expand out yer idea some. (Yes, I know, I'm repeating other people.)
(I happen to be working on a class idea right now, if anyone is jonesin for more ideas to play with. ^_^)

Yes, this could be a PvE only skill.
