Hi

Just a quick question.

What do the requirements on weapons mean?? It doesn't appear to be the requirement to use the weapon as I can use weapons from a different profession to mine and still use it.

Could someone explain please

Thanks

You can still wield the weapon, but you will not be able to do the base-maximum damage of the weapon. If the weapon gives an energy boost but requires a certain attribute level that you do not have, you will not gain that also.

The requirements essentially mean you have to have that amount of points in the attribute designated to attain maximum damage out of the weapon.

I can guess you are a noob to Guild Wars. The requirements say what is needed to get the damage or health or energy bonus. Like a weapon that says: "Fire Dmg: 11-22 (Req. 8 Fire Magic)" means if you don't have 8 fire magic, you won't get the max of 11-22. You might get 10 or less. The same with health or energy bonus: "Energy +12 (Req. 8 Fire Magic)." You can still equip the weapon and be able to use it, but you won't be able to get the max amount it can do without the required stats. If you have any more questions about anything to do with guild wars, just ask me. You can send me a personal message by clicking on my name. You can add me to your buddy list too.

If you don't meet the requirement on a weapon, then instead of the damage it lists you'll get the damage of a "starter weapon" of that type - like what you'd get if you made a new PVE character. In other words, really crappy.

Note that the requirement only affects the damage on weapons, not any energy bonuses or special mods. The requirements on focus items affect the energy, and the requirements on shields affect the armor. Generally speaking, the requirements are for whatever is listed on the same line, not anything else the item gives you.

It's kinda like this

anyone can fire a gun, but without some form of skill/training in the gun, odds are you'll have an extremely limited amount of accuracy and miss way more than you hit.
