Cheaper Way to Unlock Factions

(I used search, and came up with nothing, so here goes.)

I, among many people I know, don't wanna pay $50 to play the factions areas and classes, so I propose this:

ANet should release a key that will unlock factions when added to an existing account, but the key cannot be used to make a new account and the key won't add any additional character slots to the account its placed on.

And a key like this should be much cheaper, something like $20.

Also, scince accounts made with a factions key only allow access to cantha, a more affordable key to open propecies for factions account should also be made.

(Whew)

Anyway, thanks for your time, I'd like peoples idea's on this matter and of course, if you agree, sign this thread.

I think it should cost $30 without the character slots, since character slots are sold for $10 each.

Hrmm, good point, with what I said I was trying to account for the idea that the key wouldnt be able to make a new (4 slot?) account.

But I guess -$20 for not adding 2 char slots makes sense.

No, the expansions were to be priced as full games. ANet needs the money to make more chapters (campaigns). The 2 slots were a one-time bonus.

Guild Wars is already the best bang-for-your-buck game out there. Over a thousand hours played on under 50 dollars is less than 5 cents an hour. If you can't justify getting an expansion then don't, but it's a VERY reasonable price.

Right. And Viet Nam was about freedom, and Iraq was clearly about 9/11. And of course, Operation Desert Storm had nothing to do with oil.

They happen to be stand-alone-ish, but they are also extensions to the gaming world, carrying RPG characters across further questing. That expands the game play for characters made in prophecies, so minimally it fulfils the definition of an expansion. Get a grip, fanboy.

but true expansions require the original to play. I understand what your saying though, it does expand on the existing content. Its a stand alone expansion, plain and simple.

Good thing you know how to use a dictionary, some people are using words they don't even know the meaning of.

Factions 'can' be considered an expansion, as it meets the minimal requirements. But by default it is a stand alone game. It really depends on which group y ou favour. If you already own prophecies, then buying factions is an expansion to prophecies, as your characters 'expand' and travel to new areas. For a new player who hasn't played factions... or who hasn't played prophecies, then it is a stand alone game. Because it is advertised as being a stand alone game, it takes presidence over Factions being an expansion. It's a simple language issue.

Well... due to currency changes, my Factions cost just shy of NZ$100. but it's still worth the same in US.
