Missing faction from Alliance

When factions was released, it soon became apparent that our Alliance would have to take a little time to get towns on maps etc... so the donation of faction was relatively low... by the first Saturday we had around 235k in total. The next morning when we checked , the faction had dropped to 35k.

I first thought that perhaps we had taken a small outpost for a short time overnight but after a quick check with Alliance members, this proved not to be the case.

I asked Anet support and the reply was that this was a known issue and that they were working about it. I the asked whether they could return it and was surprised by the answer that they couldn't be sure if some of our members had been working for the 'other side' (meaning Luxon as we started with Kurzick).

I asked them to clarify that point as it had some alarming connotations and was told in turn that they were unable to help me any further as this was no longer a support issue.

So I bring this question here. Has any other Alliance had an issue of disappearing faction? and if so, did you get any further with support than I did?

I know that faction deteriorates over time but 200k in a few hours?

As I understand it every 3 hours your alliance faction decays 10%
