Not sure if this has been discussed, but here goes.

Warrior/Ranger
12 Marksmanship
16 Strength
and whatever else you need

Horn Bow, Ivory Bow or whatever else has an inherent 10% armor penetration. Add a 20/20 string.

A monk puts Judge's Insight on the W/R.

The W/R uses Sundering Shot.

16 + 10 + 20 + 20 = 66% and a chance for 86%

Anyone wanna do the actual damage numbers? I'm not sure how the armor equation works.

DUDE YOU ARE THE GOD!!! Now add a monk there with unyielding aura to keep you alive!! Then the monk can teamkill you when you go sundering the 30 mob group alone!

The penatration from skills lke Penatrating Blow, and Sundering Attack don't stack with strength.

A ranger with 16 marksmenship would deal more damage, and have less energy problems. Heck, you could even go R/Mo.

If im not mistaken there was a thread on here that said 50% AP was the max anyway. When I used to mess with hornbows, JI and pentrating attack, it did tons of damage, but I forgot how the formula goes, cause they dont stack the way you would think.

Okay, here's how armor penetration works. This is mainly from the huge damage article by SonOfRah.

There are two kinds of armor penetration: BASE armor penetration, and BONUS armor penetration.

Base armor penetration does not stack; it simply uses the highest value. The highest base armor penetration it is possible to get is 20%, using Penetrating Blow or the two different names of Penetrating Attack.

Bonus armor penetration, on the other hand, does stack. This is granted by Judge's Insight and the Sundering prefix mod. With the advent of the 20/20 sundering mod, the highest possible armor penetration it is possible to get is now 60%, using one of the penetrating attacks+judge's insight+sundering mod activation. When sundering mods were 10/10 maximum, the highest you could get is 50%, using the same combination.

I am resonably certain that the penetration offered by a Hornbow is base armor penetration, and thus it would be better to use a bow without the horribly slow refire rate of the Hornbow.
