Rubies and Sapphires?

As many people know, some people have been hoarding rubies and sapphires from late last year up until the present - presumably because some thought that they would be of use in Factions. Fortunately, I decided against this because they are now valued at approximately 2k-3k at the trader where as they were 5k+ earler this year. I *think* if Anet ever decided to include them in the future for crafting purposes they would have decided against it because it would make some people extraordinarily wealthy. Conversely though, it has made some people poorer.

I'm curious as to whether anybody has found a purpose for these gems yet and wondering what the hoarders will do if there is no use for them and they remain at a low value.

I think that The value is going to rise before the next chapter because once again there will be rumors saying that you need them for the new armors. So, I guess I'll buy them now and sell them right before the next release, and then kick myself when you DO need them and prices will go crazy. But the risk is just too high. Nonetheless, I think they are a great invention and bring some nice aspects into trading.

Rubies & Sapphries drop more often nowadays. At least I've got some in Cantha recently.

Out of three UW runs, I have gotten 6 Rubies... Now, maybe that was just blind luck, but I've made quite the few Underworld runs and have never seen one drop down there before those...

I'd rather have gotten an Ectoplasm or a Black Dye, but meh. It's something interesting at least.

Good to know they drop more often now, maybe i'll be able to complete my collection sooner than i expected

I laughed at people buying rubies/sapphires thinking they'd be useful in factions...
