Walk around Cantha for a bit.

Look up, down, around.

Zoom out your map.

My guess at their population? About 104 Trillion. And that's not counting the Emperor, or his eunuch RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOs.

Edit...
My miniscule cuss was a word for a promiscuous individual.

Might pull a billion....maybe 2 billion, they do stack those hovels pretty high and people live underground too.

After looking at the full map, its 687,937. You must have forgotten three of the hidden materials traders, they're only available to super 1337zorz GW pros.

i'd stack it up at well over 1/2 earth's population. that city is bloody huge, and there have got to be about 60 people per 6x6x70 block of area, given the size of the structures and the fact that you are almost never on the actual city ground 0_o

trilions is definately an over-estimation to say the least, remember that your thinking in powers of tens, which have vast differences between them in 2-3jumps only. Example:

$1million in $100 bills stacked on top of eachother is 9 inches tall; $1 billion of $100 bills stacked on top of eachother is as tall as the washington monument, thats 555 feet, 5 1/8 inches. million is only 3 factors of 10 from billion, so think of how many people trillion would be

All I can say is whoever built that place paid off a lot of building inspectors. It looks like a house of cards... ready to spill at any moment.

I don't think they've invented gasoline yet. Hell, they don't even have a rickshaw.

Think about it-- NYC is what, 8mil? I live right by the city, and trust me, it's huge, but it's simply nothing in comparisson to the size of Cantha. And NYC is HUGE. But Cantha's buildings are twice, three times, four times as high; more in some areas, and the people all live in poverty. They don't all own multi-bedroom apartments in Cantha. They own a room, a bed, and probably a small kitchen. (How the hell any of these buildings pass fire regulation codes, I have no idea).

On top of that, you have all of the elitisit housing for the 1337 Canthan Nobles who've got sticks up their... so, really, my guess may not be too far off.

What I want to know is, WHERE DID ALL THE WOOD COME FROM? If you read the description of Kaineng Center, Kaineng City grew to it's present size when people left the rest of Cantha due to the jade wind. The only forest on the continent got turned to stone. Yet there is a ginormous city made of what appears to be several forests worth of wood.

One simple very dangerous thought...

Can you imagine a fire... say started from a cigarette... or imagine if somebody would try to cook their food.

WHUSH!!! One giant paper and kindling pile. There should be a lot of no smoking signs... everywhere.

I've always wondered why, our hero's unafraid of undead liches, corrupt spirits and huge dragons; instead of walking miles and miles around a block of houses don't just knock on the door and and say 'excuse me can I use your back door for a moment...'

You know you can run through the whole city side from side in what... 30 minutes if there's no mobs? It's actually really tiny compared to real life cities. The palace is already 1/3rd of the width of the city. My guess would be more like 200.000 because people do live very close on each other.

Yeah, it's not nearly as big as New York. And you can run from side to side in 12-14 minutes if there's no mobs.

qft..

It's not that large. In terms of straight lines it's fairly small... say 20 mins to run from one side to the other, judging at the character run speed, thats not very far.

I'd estimate the total population at around 500,000, maybe slightly more.

That means a happy fire elementalist whose pathing problems just got resolved. And lots of Canthan Fried Peasant.

Oh well, what I'd really want to see there would be an earthquake.

From the same magical place the Luxons get their water. And from where Kaineng, Droknar's Forge and Ascalon get their food. And Lion's Arch too, since their fields seem to be under permanent Ettin/Tengu invasion. It's also probably the same location in which Ritualists get their unlimited ashes supply.

Probably administered by the same guy who decided that jade shards would be the most expensive material in a goddamn Jade Sea area.

I would think it would be a few mill, based on the fact that Rome reached a little over 1.5 million in what I would (subjectively) judge to be a similar footprint and without the piles and piles of hovels. On the plus side think of the money to be made selling manufactured homes!! That is my next farming scheme for sure.

Here's some logic.

Lets say there were 104 trillion people in Kaineng. Say you put them each on a 4 square put spot. That's 2 feet by 2 feet. Pretty closely packed. Probalby decently accurate too, if you consider that they are fairly vertical. So can we say that there's roughly 1 person per 4 square feet in Kaineng?

That would mean, if there were 104 trillion people, spaced like that in Kaineng, then Kaineng city alone is over 22 times the size of the United States.

I dont' believe it looks like that on the map.
