Cool new weapon skins with neg. mods

Im seein alot of cool new weapon skins in ventaris with negitve stuff on them like -10 armor while attacking and -5 energy. I think they give +damage all the time but is the +damage all the time actually worth these offsets or are
these weapons just for show. Can these neg. mods be removed?
Do you just run around with them and then switch when you are attacking.
Do people actually use these in battle-makes no sense to me.

No, these mods are like the 15^50 mods, and thus cannot be removed or salvaged.

No, I actually use mine. I can't imagine why anyone would run with a -5 Energy weapon.

Yeah, alot of people do, as it allows for an unconditional +15% (at max) damage modifier without having to worry about being in stance, enchanted, etc....

Yeah I found some awesome daggers that ended up balancing out to only -3 armor when attacking but with a 15% always mod on them then like -10 armor while attacking and then +7 armor always

From what I've read most didn't like that mod as 10 AL can make a big difference I mean really 5 AL is equivilent to 30 life so -10 AL is like losing 60 life, in specific cases. Granted a warrior is rarely ganked in PvP but the line of thought was going that the loss of 5 energy for an axe warrior is nothing at all, especially with glad's armor on.

In a lot of cases though I think the demand was due to the braggin rights on rarity of the mods. I mean really if -10 AL isn't a worry then why not just use a 15%^50...

If you check PvP character creation screen, you will find those mods available for weapons.

Actually, the -5 Energy weapons are incredibly useful for focus swapping. I won't go into full detail, but basically if an E-Denial Mesmer is on you, by switching to a negative energy set you can keep a reserve pool of energy safe, and also take less damage from Surge/Burn.
