I still have not buy Faction yet (since I think its a bit overprice at $49.99)
When do you think the price will drop to say $39 or $29?
How long should I wait?

lower the price that much and the account will lose them money over time.
that is why GW isnt in the bargain bin.
if they dont get their price they simply wont sell it.

As with almost every game, the cost starts out at $49 or so. Then, several weeks after its issuance, the major retailers (Best Buy, EB, etc.) realize that the initial interest in the game is starting to wane.
That is a perfect time for them to use the game as "lure" items to get people into their stores. That's when the sale prices come in. Once the retailers realize that even the "lure" appeal is over...POOF - the prices rise back up to the original asking price.
I know that I bought prophecies 6 weeks after it was issued for $19.99...that's more than half off the normal price. Factions will likely follow the same pattern, for those of you that are patient.

A stand-alone game can function by itself, allowing you to play without any other needed software.
Therefore, Guild Wars is both. It doesn't matter if you don't see why someone would only buy one campaign - they still do. I've seen many, and they're playing just fine.

Ime sure it will eventualy drop but if you play alot it is worth getting unless your willing to wait about 6-8 months minimal over 10$ or 20$ i would buy it now, the sequal can never be better then the original beacause of course guild wars was more fun the first time you played it, there was a much more euphoric feeling, and the need to become more powerful. but the only reason its not as fun as the last one is beacause you already have (probly) a few lvl20 chars, alot of mony, and know hot to play. but personaly i would buy it now judging by how much you are into the forums you would likely get your monnies worth.

This also bring out some hidden questions....
- Is Faction worth its price? (if answer yes, go to the next question)
- Should the Price for Faction drop sooner?
- Will Lot more people buy it if the price is lonwerd?
- How many would /sign for a price reduction?
- Should the future chapter be charging as much as well?

Yes/No; Future chapters that include new professions should be $50. Future chapters without new professions should not, those I would expect for more around $30.
Two new professions is a lot of work, would it be fair if Factions cost less than Prophecies, but you got more? Not really. Just because the continent we play on in Factions is smaller does not mean it should be worth less. Factions has so much more than Prophecies that I feel Prophecies should have been cheaper. You are getting a deal with Factions, if you don't feel that way or can't see why, then I guess thats how you feel.
I can see them coming out with expansions that are not full price, because they said there will be expansions that don't offer new professions. Logically speaking, it would make complete sense for those expansions to be cheaper.
I'd say take your time, play some other games, wait until Factions is a price you agree with and buy it. Its a good game, but if you don't feel its worth that much to you, then don't buy it. Its the same reason I haven't bought Oblivion yet, that game doesn't look like its worth $50 to me, I'll buy it when it reaches $30-40.

You shouldn't. Guild Wars is played exclusively online. Bandwidth, server equipment, and employees to deal with that aren't free. If you can't stand paying for these things, stop playing MMORPG\CORPG games, because every one of them do it. Not to mention a whole new continent, classes, skills, and tons of quests. But if you see it as only "extra fashions and clothings", that's your choice - don't buy it. That's why you would want to only play certain campaigns. An expansion expands the current game world's features and content. A stand-alone game can function by itself, allowing you to play without any other needed software. Therefore, Guild Wars is both. Guild Wars is not a MMORPG and I'm not playing a MMORPG so I'm not worrying about the monthly fee. I believe, and it is my opinion, that Anet got a little lazy with Factions. Let me explain what I'm talking about.
The pets are terrible. Tiger and White tiger just reskinned called different things. Red and Blue crab. Atleast lets try and be a little creative. Thats 4 of the possible 7 "new" pets.(Crabs{2}, Tigers{2}, Black Moa, Pheonix, Crane) Did I miss a pet?
The cut scenes look like something from The Movies(tm) and the voice acting is nothing short of a bad 1970's dubbing of a martial arts film. I believe they did a fairly nice job with the voice acting in Prophecies, as well as the cutscenes, for the most part.
I really liked the story in Prophecies, surprises around every turn. Where as Factions, is fairly to the point and really not interesting.
Cantha is smaller and also contains fewer missions. The only original/interesting areas you can't access unless you belong to one of the two controlling alliances (I won't go into that). I was really expecting another place similar to UW and FOW. That was only my expectation.
I won't complain about bugs because those are inevitable.
So you are paying $50 for a game that, dare i say took less effort? than Prophecies. Which subsiquently is what Prophecies costs. Are the games equal in content that each has brought to the table? Not by a long shot. Anet already said they won't be adding anymore areas into Canthan like they did with Sorrows Furnace.
These are only my opinions. You may agree or disagree. That is up to you. If I'm wrong, and I am sure i am wrong in a lot of points, please show me the light.
