2nd link doesn't really lead to any pictures, could you give a more direct link.
Interesting info, but till I see A.net give any updates I'm considering if only speculation. But nevertheless my best guess is chapter3 will be located North of Kryta, beyond the great lake.
Guess we have to wait a bit longer before we get a chance to crush the Charr.

The info is from E3, where they show Chapter III under closed doors.

Yes I said that a while ago and wondered about it. Hopefully chapter 3 will be something new and fresh, chapter 2 was somewhat samely.
Not sure what to make of these floating cities.
Diablo???
Good stuff. I'll be seeing it at E3 tomorrow maybe..

Cool. Post some screenshost and a preview if you can.

- 16 Missions - shame the story was weak, less then chapter 1
- The controling of territories - Shame you have to farm faction to have any hope of having them. But the 8v8 battles can be fun.
- High-score challenge missions - That only 1% of the whole game population have access to at the time
- Jade sea's, petrified forests - These were nice, but just eye candy
- Built up cities - Slum areas are annoying and again just eye candy
- Swarms of monsters which explode on death - Death Nova from Chapter 1? Again nothing really new. AI still acts the same.

So, Alex. Is there any truth to these assumptions on Chapter 3? Are we gonna be seeing Afflicted Camels and Dredge Rhinos in the next installment of Guildwars?

That floating mosque is the coolest thing I've ever seen since Chapter 1 concept art.

Kurzick
- Altrumm Ruins
- Amatz Basin
Luxon
- Zos Shivros Channel
- The Aurios Mines
These are called "Challenge Missions", they are not "Elite Missions" where "only 1% of the whole game population have access to at the time".
"High Score" because the scores of the teams who did their best are recorded down.

Wait wait, no, White Mantles are baddies. let's help Shining Blade. eh ok?
Ehm, so let's slay Glint. Yes, the one that helps us. That makes sense.
.......
Compared to that, I found Ch.2's storyline quite nicely, with nice flashbacks.

The thought of not having fireworks is unbareable. Sorry, it is nice recognition for the top pve alliances, but it's all that. What's wrong with recognition? You hardly are missing anything here. Probably fireworks are tradeble, so that is also passible.

Yes, that is a bit limited...
From what I hear: just chucked up with monsters, so-so drops. What are we missing here? I might be a pvp player mostly, but the only thing I can see of wanting this, is having another challenge.
Is it true that if you join a controlling alliance's party, you can enter? If so, with effort possible. I can understand why it upsets players, but everyone wanted a way for pve-ers to distinguish themselves...so they gave it to you?

Sorry to paint a negative picture, but for me Chapter 2 didn't really add anything majorly new to the gameplay. But that is for a dicusssion in another forum. |
- challenge missions
- alliance forming
- random 8v8
- guildscrimmages
- faster skillpoint acquisition (sp?) [missions, elite 5k bonus]
- better replay incentive pve missions with beginner-experienced-veteran status
- titles
- 16 player pve missions (altough they often are just a big Henchman party)
Personally, I think they did a fine job with Factions.
Sorry to paint a positive picture, but I didn't set high hopes for myself, so it was easy to surpass my hopes and made me overall quite happy with Factions.
I can see why some players are disappointed with certain things (personally the strict implementation of alliancechat), but overall its too harsh to say they didn't add anything major to the game.
my 2 cents,
Makkert

Flashbacks are confusing, always have been when use in any story.
Fireworks aren't tradeable and are very shortlived... wish they were tradeable.
Elites Missions is what I was refering to, and they are limited and not matter how you put it, I would like to have a go at them. Shame none of the current alliances wish to share.
New battle system while good and fun are just another form of GvG once you look at the core dynamics. Guild Scrimmages is for Chapter 1 and 2. Replaying quests is interesting, at first.
And getting skillpoints is all good and fine, but skills still cost me 1K each now, gold rewards are still too low.
I still find farming skills in Chapter 1 faster by just running quests quickly.
In short...
You seems to think I dislike Factions, that is far from the truth, I like it a lot. But to consider it a standalone game is rubbish, it feels and plays like an expansion.
Snowman
Regardless of if you liked or disliked factions (Which I still argue is way to early to presume) Factions is still VERY different to prophecies!!
How you can say they are similar is preposterous.

Hmmm ... what could have been a nice collection of info about chapter 3 turns into a discussion about chapter 2. Can't you guys stick to the subject?

Anyways yes back on topic...
My best guess is new area will be north of Kryta, it can't be north of Ascalon since the Charr lands would most likely but a wasteland.
Maybe in Chapter 4 we'll be able to take the fight back to the charr!
Nevin
Based off of "North African" I'm assuming one of the new professions will be a javelin wielder, with maybe a large shield? Like an amazon. (Remember old fashion tribes in Africa use hand made spears/shields when hunting game or fighting)
Yichi
The only thing with the elite missions is this, they are the only ones who have control over the territory atm. everyone wants the newest rarest items in the game which at the moment = zodiac and a few others, so why give up control of your wealth? its like cutting your own throat. im not in one of those aliances, but i understand why its like that and everyone needs to realize 1 thing, not everyone will have an opportunity at having the very best in life.

what a noncense, i'm still playing factions. And yes i do not like certain things but i think it was worth my money. I really like the concept of guildwars, much better in my eyes then WoW. But that concept art with the floating cities/buildings is definity VERY cool.

Uh, Factions is an incomplete game... how about Alex and the rest of the so called masterminds fix that first, then work on other things. Makes me sick to see that a new chapter is in the mix when the second one isnt done. Did you all not learn anything here? The third will be worse than this as far as content goes, and even less complete. How many times do you have to touch a hot stove before you understand you are getting burned... for me just once. We can forget about the Charr, by the time they get back to that the original players of prophecies will have long since stopped playing. And you cant have Amazons in north africa, they are in south america.

Im a little shocked that they are starting the next one, i know it takes along time to develop... But what impression are they trying to make on us?
One of these days, there will be nothing left for them to develop.. The only thing left for them to make a game out of will be zooming the world 3000+ years into the future and giving us all plasma guns of fortitude..
Its a bit sad.

Fpr those of you who have been sittingin a cave. On Mars. With your eyes close. Oh, and your fingers in your ears:
Its no surprise that they are starting on chapter 3, given that the announced that ch3 was started 6 months ago. ANet has 2 development teams developing in 1 years cycles staggered by 6 months; by the launch of ch2 you would expect ch3 to be half done. Moreover, work on ch3 isnt taking away from work on ch2 since its a different development team.

They aren't starting on a new one (unless you mean chp 4) they have been working on chp3 since november - its a bit late for them to stop and fix percived problems with chp2 don't you think?
They made it pretty clear since the start this is the way it would be, a new chapter every few(6) months. I guess most of you werent paying attention or something.

Last info is they are already in plan and design stages of C4.
I personaly think that's a bad idea. GW was fun while it lasted.
It's time to move on.

Your fireworks idea? what would be the point of trading them?
Funny that you say none of the current alliances wish to share, when the alliance owning HzH has been guesting people to the elite mission for the past week.
Going through the game on a tyria character took me about a week, and during that time I acquired 70 skill points, thats a lot for just breezing through the game without doing many quests. In chapt 1 it would take you probably a month to get that many if you were just farming them.
Also, leveling up is much less tedious, you can get to level 20 in just over a few hours.
Everyone knew elite missions would only be available to the top alliances before factions came out anyway, which is what seems to upset you the most.
GranDeWun
I'm certain each chapter will follow the pattern of Ch2 - a new continent, with a starter area and an entry port, which you reach via ship. Keeps the mechanics clean for those with different chapters unlocked.
If Ch3 has an arab-y OR ancient egyptian theme (or both!), I'll be happy.

So actually Guildwars, really, is only just starting!
I dont expect Chapter 3 to be a completly new land like factions is, not at all, rather it will be a much smaller expansion.
No game ever sufferd from too many expansions, rather, the more expansions and the more content they get the better they become!.. you've only got to take a look at Eve-Online, CoH, WoW, NwN... they continue to be popular, where as the games which decline and grow old are those which stop their expansions to work on other games/projects!...
LONG LIVE GUILDWARS!!!

Firstly, RTS - Just wanted to note that my earlierpost re: Challenge missions was only made to ensure that no one became confused about access to these missions. Glad you're enjoying the game .
As for the new campaign ... well, you're just going to have to wait and see. I've seen a lot of it as a work in progress, and it's looking amazing. I'm teasing, I know, but you'll just have to wait a little longer for full details. When those details are announced, though, I think you'll find much of your feedback has been addressed .

Let us not be confused about the less then 1% game base who can enjoy "ELITE" missions. While the remaining 99% game base should just be satisfied with the challenge TIMED missions.
BTW: I do love the Ritualist class and I hope I can see a Spear wielding native of some kind if you do go the African route.
