Is there a listing somewhere of which alliances control what cities, and how much faction they have? How do you know, other than by word of mouth, which city you control, how far you are away from controlling the next best city, and who is hot on your tail for taking over your city?

When you map to a city, and the confirmation dialogue box appears, in the brief text description you can find the name of the alliance that "owns" the city/town, as well as the amount of faction they have.

Also, as you map into a town, the name of the controlling alliance is displayed in you HUD under the name of the town.

The alliance with the most faction owns HzH/Cavalon, the second place alliance holds the second largest outpost, etc...

I was under the impression there is more to it than that, but perhaps not. So, if your alliance controls a town that you don't have access to, or don't have access to other towns, you really don't know how close the competition is ? It would be nice if there was an in-game list of the towns owned by which alliances and their relative faction amounts.

If your alliance owns a town you can enter an exclusive area, where a merchant will sell regular items to you, but at a discounted price. Plus, for a small fee, you can buy a fireworks show for everyone in the town to see. And of course, alliances that own the capital cities can access the elite missions as well.
