Is it possible to complete either of the 2 missions on "newbie island" with a prophecies character? If so, how does one unlock the townships for these characters?
If you cannot, it means you can never be a GM cartographer nor a protector of Cantha as a prophecies character so I hope that the answer is that there is a way through.

I'm not sure if you can do the missions or not. But i know you can get to the island. Kaineing Harbor outside The Marketplace(theres a guy out there standing infront of the dock you talk to). Haven't been to the island yet with any of my prophacies char's but thats how you get there.

you can't enter the missions with a prophecies character on the island. i tried. the guy said he would only let students from the monestary in. But i could get into the towns.

Yeah, that was my experience as well. I guess these missions and therefore the Cantha titles are off-limits to Tyrians.

hmmm, then Anet should make a way into them so we can explore them somehow. Like a portal after the mission or something just for tyrains useage.

This is prolly true since missions prior to Lion's Arch are off-limits to Canthians

Missions that are unaccesible to Tyrians do NOT count towards the Cartographer title.

Have any Prophecies chars reached 100% canthan yet to confirm that it's possible (I know anet said it was)? The reason I'm asking is I've pain-stakingly edged every prophecies char accessible zone in Cantha except the Jade Quarry competitive (which can't be much more than 1%), all those Alliance controlled outpost areas (which I'll likely never get in) and the Elite Mission areas (which I'll once again never see). I'm just over 94% and I'm guessing Jade Quarry will get me to about 95.
Maybe I'm missing some PvP arenas I didn't notice in some town or something though... dunno... but 5-6% is a really huge gap... like multiple entire zones worth I've missed somehow.

Only in Lion's Arch and places beyond that. No quests available at Shiverpeaks /Ascalon.

Anet says a lot of things and then changes their mind later on. I had thought that they had even said at one point that all Canthan areas would be open for exploration to prophecies characters, although I don't remember where I read that. If someone does reach 100% Canthan with a prophecies character, a post and/or picture confirming that it was achieved without "newbie island" would sure be nice!
