GWF Installation Questions

I installed GWF last night and when I started "playing" the game started where I am currently located in GWP.

1. What do I have to do to play GWF stand alone? Do I use the "key" sto start a completely new account?

2. If I add the "Key" to my existing account, how do I play GWF stand alone?

3. If I link the two (as is what I suspect if I link the two keys) how do I get into the GWF game?

4. Again, if I link the two keys -- do I get to have 8 characters instead of 4?

These are probably naive questions but the manual does not seem to cover these questions so any help would be appreciated?

1. If you do not wish to link the accts (stupid idea - you are at an Extreme disadvantage pvp wise) - create a new account with it.

2. What do you mean by "stand alone"? You can paly throguh the Factions campaign by picking that choice when creating a character (you have to choose if its a ch1, or ch2 character)

3. To play the GW:F pve game - just create a new character and choose "factions campaign" from the two chooses you are given.

4. You get 2 extra slots for merging the accounts, so instead of the normal 4 you are given free, you get 6.

If you merge the two (ie, add the key to your existing account), then you can either travel to Cantha using an existing character by talking to Sergio in LA (he'll give you a quest), or you can create an entirely new character and select Role-playing Char > Factions.

There is a quest in Lions Arch that you can take to bring a character over to tyria, go find Sergio, the skills guy on the steps.

If you need to play stand alone then create another account and use the key .

2. If I add the "Key" to my existing account, how do I play GWF stand alone?
Once you add the key to your existing account, then you can play both F and P using the same characters.

3. If I link the two (as is what I suspect if I link the two keys) how do I get into the GWF game?
Go to LA and talk to the Skills guy and follow the quest.

4. Again, if I link the two keys -- do I get to have 8 characters instead of 4?

You get only 2 new slots for a total of 6.

Dave - I take it that you have installed the game client from the disk that came in the box. If so then you will start at wherever you are in Tyria, as all you have done is overwrite the executable file.

If you want to be able to take your existing characters to Cantha, and your Canthan characters back to Tyria, you have to add the access key that came with Factions to your existing account. If you want to just play Factions on its own (and why you would want to do that, I don't know) then choose the Create New Account option when you start GW.

As Boxterduke said above - merging the two games gives you 6 character slots. Creating a second account gives you a total of 8 slots, but your characters are stuck in whatever chapter they were created in.
