Sentinel's armor has +20 armor. My question is it universal. Hence I use one piece of armor (say boots) and gain +20 armor and it doesn't matter that I use all Sentinel armor I will still only get +20 armor and not +80 armor...???
Much like the knight's armor where you will only get -2 damage no matter how many pieces of knights armor I wear.

No it is not global, but the armor is for every single piece.

You could if you want to buy only the chest armor and you would have a 37.5 chance that a hit would go onto the chest and deal only half damage.

But i dont think you want your damage to depend too much on luck so i suggest you buy sentinel on all pieces of armor...

On Dj Tano's post, I am pretty sure that damage is halved every 40 armor, and not 20.

id just go with full sentinel since its supposedly the best, but with 1 piece youl get a 100 armor boost, and the rest fo your armor will give what they say. oh and by the way, does dmg depend on where your hit? ive never heard of it.

Yes damage does depend on where your hit.More likely to be hit on your chest then legs then arms and boots.

Is the answer the same for assassin armor. the one im looking at has +15 armor while attacking. i always thought that if i had the full set, i'd get +75 armor while attacking for my whole body

Nope. In Guild Wars, whenever you take damage it's assigned to one of the five body locations, and only the armor on that location will reduce it. There are two and only two exceptions - the damage reduction from the Ascalon/Knight's warrior armors, and the +15 while casting from some mesmer armors. Those are both global and non-stacking - having it on just your boots or gloves is as good as having it on every piece.

The chance for each location to be hit is 3/8 for chest, 2/8 for legs, and 1/8 for each of the rest. Projectile attacks/spells are supposedly affected by altitude as well, so you're more likely to hit the head if you shoot down at someone from a hill and so on. Spells that aren't projectile-based usually default to the chest, although some of them have their own locational preferences.

(edit: Yeah, nobody asked about how the damage chooses a location, but I suspected someone was going to.)

Sentinels armour is NOT the best. If you want 13 strength for your build, then I suggest you send a note to JR- telling him why its so wonderful. I'm sure he'll set you straight.

also bear in mind that Sentinals bonus equates to +20 armour elemental, all warrior armours have 100AL physical. If you're so worried about ele damage just take dreadnoughts for the +10 elemental and give your warriors a decent build.

Sentinel Armor is AL 100, and -20 when your strength is under 13 attrib level. Personally, I prefer Dreadnought's, at AL 90 and +10 versus physical.

IF your using a Warrior/X build that uses 13 str and max weapon mastery, sentinel + knight boots is the way to go. But sentinel armor is not worth changing your attributes over it.

Yeah, that's what I ended up leaning for when I was making my choice. The Sentinel sounds best for tanking purposes, but outside of that it's really not the best all-around choice.
