armor not getting updated?
Dave83
If you look at the new set you can buy, its +10 v elem. If you look at my old set it has'nt updated. Anyone else noticed this on other armor, is it deliberate for some reason? One thought was maybe its deliberate - factions pvp is harder but that doesnt make sense seeing how you can wear new sets in 'old' places.
Mustache Mayhem
it's in the game updates.. been waiting for this too

So 2 days before factions came out, I was gunna celbrait by buying my warrior new armor. So i decided to buy 15k Platemail armor. So I got it and it has 85 armor. 2 Days later i saw that they changed the armor form 85 to 90...
Please tell me theres gunna be a guy who updates your armor!

1) Already a thread about this, about six or eight lines down. Entitled, oddly enough, "Armor not getting updated?", which is much more direct than your "Ohh God."
2) Yes, it will get updated, for free. Go here and see the Armor Changes section in the first post.
EDIT by Swehurn - Deleted comment that was bordering on a flame.

ANet said that they will provide a way to update old armor to the newer specs. The problem is that it hasn't been provided as of yet.

Just wait and don't craft another armor

Yeah Anet needs to get on that chop chop!!! I wants my sexy Ele to not wear teh ssucky armor no more.
dargon
ANet needs to fix other more important things first. You'll get your revised armor, just lets get the bugs dealt with first.
Navaros
Fixing old armor is way more important than fixing bugs. The old armor issue existed first, therefore it is only fair to deal with it first. It can even be argued that the current lack of a fix for old armor is a bug.
I concur that Anet should fix old armor immediately.

They been working a lot on the mission bugs, which has been causing a bigger problem.
Two of my characters that need multiple sets updates. 4 sets for my ele and 3 sets for my Monk myself.

Nah..bug fixes first.
Measly extra 5 AL per armor piece should be down at the bottom of the list.

Whoa, Taiwan has favor in that pic. I've never even seen that before.
Phoenix Avenger
I dont see why this NPC wasnt included day 1 of factions release. It's not like the old armor not having as good as stats as the new ones was a bug. They knew ahead of time that armor of some people would improve. Did they just have poor planning? Or are they just trying to get people to waste money on new armor?

-_- So sorry, but also keep in mind that not everyone uses a PvP character; but instead has all their slots filled with PvEs. Going in with the current lower armor is a handicap to them, then.

They are getting to it, I dont see this being as important as say...not being able to finished the 3rd mission 50% of the time. Your armor doesnt matter when you get stuck.
Arkantos
They should fix the armour, but I think that bugged missions are more important in ANets eyes.

Skuld
anet didn't do a v. good job on the game in that sense, they can't change the level at the click of a button and they can't recall weapons etc.. im no game developer but that shouldn't be so hard
dargon
Skuld, you're right, you're not a game developer. I'm not either, but I do write code for a living and I know that the littlest change in position X in my program every so often likes to affect position Y, hundreds or thousands of lines away. The NPC is coming, if you really can't wait, buy a second set of armor, then when the NPC arrives, you'll have two. It's not like the extra little bit of armor really has a great big effect in the grand scheme of things.

if that's the case, I'd really prefer if they just said so. Many of us would just go buy new armor instead of waiting for an update.
Basically, it's the worst thing to do, promise an update soon, deliver it in 6 months timespan and keep us unsure. If that happens, i'm really gnna be pissed off.

If the armor does not have a big effect on the grand scheme of things, then there is no reason why any of the stats should have been changed in the first place. They might as well rollback those changes so that everyone has the old stats rather than giving good stats to newbies whilst letting old players be stuck with worse stats.
Are you personally going to be donating the money to everyone who posts in this thread that they are going to buy a second set of armor because they cannot wait? If you are not - then that suggestion to buy a second set is without merit.

why should he pay for a completely optional choice someone makes?
if they have to have it now that is their choice and they can pay or wait.
a few weeks for 5 points free big deal

Personally, I think it's a bit of a rip off that they didn't have such a feature released with Factions. I think it would have saved a whole bunch of blood and tears if they'd let everyone upgrade when the new armor was introduced, instead of making people wait. It doesn't seem like it would be hard code to pull off, considering how well done Guild Wars is and all, and I'm not complaining, but it seems unfair that a n00blet makes a character in PvE, gets through it(as many have) and has all the skills for a good build, and then they make a PvP character with this nice new armor and I'm at a heavy disadvantage.
5 points is 5 points, even if it's only 5 points...

People have already been waiting a few weeks. That is why threads like this crop up.
Can you even confirm that the armor upgrade will be in place within a few weeks? Didn't think so. Which just gives all the more cause for concern.
Not having 5 points of armor that new players get on their armor is definitely a big deal.
Why he should pay for it is because he is implying that buying a second set of armor is a viable solution to this problem whilst in reality, it is not. Unless he is gonna pony up the 100k+ for everyone who agrees to use his "solution".

you are experienced so use you superior experience (skill) against the noobs.
if you cant beat an untrained noob with a 5 point advantage you are already in trouble
Count to Potato
Like the increased storage, this will come later, guild wars wasnt perfect when it came out, updates happen

5 points is a false way to look at it , its 5 points per piece if you have a full set thats a 25 point disadvantage makes the sting even worse
Spook_Cell
Armour doesn't work that way, it's not cumulative but per location so it's only 5.
I also don't see why so many people bought new armour right before factions was released, I've been holding off buying new armour or adding sup vigor to the ones I already have because I knew very well there was going to be new types with new skins.

I can tell you for sure that if it is harder than place_npc_at 1 0 0 0, they did something seriously the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO wrong when they designed the game.
Its the same as any other crafter, you give something and you get something back. So they can just reuse crafter code with a few modifications. They can even re-use an npc skin *which they do all the time* to save even more time.
The only new thing they need to code is a check on your runes.
Total time: 20 minutes if you broke your hands.

u should give them time its more important to fix the bugs stopping loads of people to do missions and skills that are missing just give them time im sure it will be soon
Don Zardeone
afaik, they got this list of stuff, a to do list.
They fix most important crap first, like unexplainable lag, major bugs, imbalanced stuff.
But it sure is taking them a while.
Speculation: They are probably adding a lot of goodies to it.
I'm guessing they will transform the old Tyrian crafters into Canthan-style crafters.
That way you can get 15k dragons with gladiator stats oh my O.o
