Alliance Names

As much as I have been excited about the release of factions, there are certain aspects that I wish would of been better developed. The one I am writing about today is Alliance Names.

The idea of guilds forming an alliance is not new to MMORPG's and it has the potential to have guilds interacting together which certainly was nonexistant in Chapter 1. I am happy that the developers decided to add an alliance system to Chapter 2.

As fun as alliances can be they are also can be a headache. One change I would highly recommend is that the developers seriously consider adding an alliance name to replace the name of the lead guild. The guild that I am currently allied with has spent alot of time settling the lead guild issue. I completely understand the issue behind having a lead guild to add and remove guilds but when your working hard to make sure every guild in the alliance is an equal member, it makes sense to allow alliances to come up with a name. A lot of guilds have chosen to start a "dumby" guild for alliance naming puposes. It is an option but you really should not have to burn a guild slot for that. Another option has been for a guild to change its name to the alliance name. That might work for guilds who are fairly new, but for a guild like the one I am in giving up a name we have had since 1997, is out of the question.

Adding an alliance name feature is not something that should be difficult to code in the game and it will certainly take care of an issue that can complicate forging alliances in the first place.

Yes, alliances are a great addition to guild wars but there are many ways Anet could finish them.

My suggestion is to make a way to view the members of other guilds in your alliance, because, theres really no point in even having an alliance* if u cant play with people from that allaince.


*Except for getting massive faction



And I hope Anet will fix all these issues with alliances in a week or so.
