Very nicely written.

Make me want to get you to buy me Faction so I can play and support your point of view (PM me for my mailing address).

Personally, I am trying stay true to the game's ideaology, by not buying Faction (since it is not a require duty), and actually almost not play the game at all (since already reach end game in prophcy, which farming as the only thing left to do, be the best is not to do that at all). Since I am a PvE player, I just don't enjoy much of PvP or Guilding.

This I encourage everyone to do. (of couse, that is not to say you will disown GW, just put it on break for the time, and go do something else with your life)

Good post. A little long and convoluted, but good. Kudos for your picture breaks...

All I have to say is this:
(1) people got really familiar with Prophecies, now they are shell-shocked into a different campaign. It is going to take some getting used to. There are many knee-jerk reactions and I think intelligent people and A.Net's staff realize this.
(2) constructive criticisms, no matter how "wrong," should always be allowed. There are a lot of issues with the major mechanics in Factions that need to be examined. There have been many well thought posts on how to fix them, what's wrong, etc. They are littered with garbage from others, but they are, IMHO, always welcome and hopefully always helpful.
(3) most importantly, the strongest showing for A.Net is how people play. They have mounds of statistics, they can see mission usage, hench vs. pug usage, which challenge missions are most played, etc. If you talk about how you will never buy Chapter 3 and then play Factions for 20 hours that week, you really aren't "saying" anything.
(3)(a) that being said, a lot of the forum is negative because all the positive goes in to gameplay. It is kind of selfish, but A.Net being veterans of the gaming industry are aware of this gamer mentality. Sure some goob will come along and post about how awesome and beautiful the Jade Sea is and how it is the tantamount of computer landscaping, but those are few and far between. Again usage statistics will show what gamers like far more than posting here.

Bravo, I say. The amount of flames on the site is dying down now that Factions has been out for a few weeks and, hopefully, your eloquent post will discourage future whiners.

That's most likely because people are tired of complaining for now. They either are doing something else in game until an update comes along or they are burned by <insert problem here> and decided to stop playing altogether. Unfortunately, this post won't stop whiners one bit.

/signed for my support to Anet. I have dual accounts a CE account and regular account. I have both games on each account. I dont regret it one second. I am looking forward to chapter 3 and beyond. Anet has me as a customer. They would have to pull a sony and nerf like they did there on galaxies to lose me. Factions aint perfect, but I have played other games and spent a lot more on them and not enjoyed them near as much. Yeah I am disappointed with some things in factions, I miss the mission bonuses, and i hate the locked gates. I am also disappointed that I cant play ascalon quests with my canthan characters. Oh well, I got new professions, new areas, new bling, new armor, new skills spells, etc....I even enjoy playing fort aspenwood, never myself enjoyed PVP in prophecies. I like it now. I am farming faction and having fun. Alot more good out weigh the bad. plus the reason why you see more complainers than compliments, is because people who arent getting pwned by noobs, are playing and enjoying the game. I am headed home from work to enjoy some factions.

I think that what most people have an issue with is how people complain on these forums. I will read a thought out post like this one whether it be a complaint or praise. What I get really sick of are the immature whiners saying "OMG anet plz nerf *****" or "OMG anet, this **** is teh suxxor". If people have complaints, fine, sit down and right like a normal human being and you will get more respect and attention to your complaint. Act like a 5 year old whiner and you will be treated accordingly.

I have said it before and will say it again. I personally think that Anet(god bless 'em) thought they were doing a great thing by telling us players a LOT about the content of Factions before it was released. They wanted to be "in touch" with the player community and that community turned around and bit the hand that was feeding them. Anet should stay in touch with comunity BUT when it comes to upcoming expansions I think silence would be prudent/golden. The less we know, the more excited we will be. The less we know, the more exploration and playing the game we will do. When I played Diablo 2 for years and years, players hated the fact that Blizzard kept their mouths shut about upcoming patches and such. Drove us nuts but in the end players were more satified IMO.

Its a fine balance. Too much talk can bite you in the butt and too little talk can make players think the Dev's don't care about them at all.
I used the word "forceful" because the amount of appropriate force require for each indiviual issue varies...generic word.

Anyway, yes, leet speak bashers earn their retribution. No doubts, qualms or quarrel there. But, people get tired of complains to quickly and begin lumping everyone together. In the interest of preserving a sane arguement, the community shouldn't get aggitated by just anyone who complains.

I'd have to disagree with your assesment of the amount of information given. I recall barely ANY information coming directly from A.Net, even when we asked diligently. Most of what information was decerned was dug up by players through 3rd party sources, very little of which was confirmed or denied till the release, or not at all.

As for that last statement. Exactly. Fine line to walk, but one should always bring a net.

Out of respect for the thread, I'm not going to continue on a diviant tangential arguement, if you'd like to continue our discussion feel free to PM me. ^_^
