I respect anyone with the title Hero (1). I think that takes alot of courage to show in PvE. I see alot of people getting made fun of for being rank 3+, I wonder what they do to rank 1-2. O.x

Titles that get my clap clap are Drunkard, as it requires alot of cash for a title which doesnt mean you can play, just means you can blow cash and time on being wasted, good enough for me :-)

when forming a pve pug, i look for the hero title first to determine whether the person has experience playing with others.
all pve titles can be achieved by soloers (maybe with the exception of protector).

PvP: Champion - this is the true measure of PvP ability, against top quality opposition. You can't grind this title out like you can with Hero and Gladiator, you have to be the best
PvE: Grandmaster Cartographer - for me, this is the mark of the ultimate explorer, able to adapt to every environment and mob. Tyria has its fair share of forsaken hell-holes to survive

Edit: I never said once I ban all PvPers from my groups, if you read what I said and what I quoted, you would understand that. I ban certain ones, just as I ban PvE'ers who spam in all caps LFG I KNOW WHAT I"M DOING LET ME IN.

I think the whole idea of titles and ranks is so detrimental to true teamwork and good sportsmanship. And by limiting your group to only "X" title or rank, you are doing a few things that I just think will be the downfall of this fun game;
1) You are excluding or flat-out insulting new people, and that's just plain wrong. The person you excluse could be a great player.
2) You are being a bully and teaching them nothing. You could be helpful and coach them to be better players.
3) You are being greedy. Not everyone is into winning 30 matches in a row or some ridiculous goal which means nothing in the outside world.
4) People who think that having a title will automatically command respect should think again. Respect is earned not entitled.

Has anyone actually acheived the Kind of A Big Deal rank? Seems to me that no matter which way you slice it, that person will have to have spent gobs of time on it and while that's no guarantee of excellence - it certainly speaks to their dedication to GW itself.

That being said, I think any title, other than perhaps wisdom or treasure, that has been maxed out shows someone who has spent a decent time in game doing something they enjoy.
This thread has certainly shown one thing, that the friction between certain groups of pvp'ers and pve'ers is alive and well...

The titles are for self-congratulatory purposes, (or in some cases, bragging) and so if they make the entitled person feel better or more complete, that's great. I however will neither spurn nor revere another for having a title.

Titles don't impress me really, it just shows ones accomplishments really. Although if I saw somebody with 100% map explored, I'd probably think to myself, "Wow, that's amazing." but I wouldn't shower them with attention over it. PvP emotes don't impress me at all either, but meh, that's just me. Although it does give off kind of a star struck feeling when I come across top ranking guild players. Not that I would rush to get them in my party or anything though.

None of them really, maybe the GvG one simply because they have teamwork
to get that title. Friend of the Kurzick since farming Kurzick faction isn't as
easy as farming Luxon faction. 95-100% Cartographer is pretty good as well.

And I am totally sorry to say that skill is a function of time, too. Time equals practice and practice equals skill. Everyone can learn how to GvG just as everyone can learn how to walk.
