The only good henchies are on the Kurzick side, Danika and Redeptor Karl usually do a great job at healing/prot, except they lack rezzing skills.
On the Luxon side, forget it, Sister Tai is useless, Seaguard Gita is a git and Aeson wouldn't know a spirit if one crawled up his ***
In the City, most of the hench are crap as well.
These are just observations I made and am continuing to make while I trek all my chars across Canthan Soil.

None of you are mentioning the good ones on the Luxon side. Take both specialty archers. Aurora (longbow) uses Barrage and Favoring Winds, for lots of AoE damage, the other guy (forget his name) is an interrupter, and does a really good job. Take Talon, Tai, the protector one, and your choice for the last two.
Avoid assassin and "Guardian" henchies, they seem to be the first to eat dirt (crappy AI)

Very rarely she would be first to die in my parties, as she ran away when needed to heal up. Frankly that's something I don't often see players to do.
Nice info on the longbow hench, never tried that one out myself. Will have to check it on my next trip through the Luxon lands.

I played both Assassin and Ritualist to the end and as both are soft targets need to use one warrior henchy.
