I have a R/E 8 just post-searing. I've played the "defend the wall" scenarios with others, and I've notice something: My character has crappy equipment.

Well, not crappy, but it certainly isn;t as good as what I see on other characters of comparable level. In particular, I need a *much* better bow than the customized 7-10 longbow I'm carrying at the moment.

So do I need to go gold farming, join a guild, or spend time looking for materials to make a better bow?

And where do I all these fancy armors everyone else seems to be wearing by lvl 8?

Or am I expecting too much from a solo character at this stage of the game?

Some people get their guildmates to 'run' them to the point in the game where you can first buy the endgame armor. This armor costs 1.5plat per piece, plus the cost of materials. Once you've gone through the game once you should have enough money to get some yourself, but as a first time player, I recommend not doing this till you get there. Just get the collector items as you go and turn them in for armor upgrades, you can save yourself some money then and still have armor thats balanced for the area you're in.

For a bow, you should look into purchasing a low req max dmg bow from another player in Ascalon. If you are cash strapped, you might consider finding an area that you can solo some monsters. It will take a while, but you'll build a little gold fund.

I'm now R/E 18, with a Level 12 Dune Lizard, in Amnoon, with two high-damage bows (one lightning, another fire) and Druid armor. I just needed to be patient...

Or... get to LA and do the quest to get to Cantha -- then you can have the 1.5K max armor without the run to Droks.

Yup. And there's a BUNCH of quests around there that you can do to get to level 2 pretty fast.

^that's high damage Indeed, both my bows fit the description above. One was a gift from a player i helped do a mission, and the other popped out of a chest.

I'm looking for a vampiric bow at the moment...
