Does This Make Any Sence To You?

This weekend I was trying to sell a Katana for 10k. Itwas blue, 9require15^50. But this guy is like you noob it isn't worth that?!?!? I don't see why not it's the same weapon as a gold version just blue and does the same damage. Then he comes up "Noob it's rarer you trying to rip people off" Ok he was getting on my nerves. "What your telling me is the same as someone in a store saying that one spoon is better then the other when they are both mad of iron but one has polishing. You cna't argue with my logic." "You dumb noob that makes no sence you are dumb I can't belive i'm even talking to you." Thats not the point but it's to give a general idea of what this is about.

Ok why do people try to sell a weapon for 50k thats is just as strong as a 5k weapon you can get fro 5k. Color doesn't do or mean anything. Every person so far has yelled at me for daring to think outside of the pathic pricing box. Sad part is the most popular bonus is gone when you need whats the bloody point??? I tried buying a 15^50 bramble longbow. One seller said 150k and called me a noobfor saying it isn't worth that much another said 25k. So I went to ascalon and got one that had no bonus with 17%ernchant for 3k and modded. I plan to customize it. Why do people get mad when you think outside of the box. Are colors and useless bonuses really worth 100k+ and biting peopl's heads off? I thought of a pricing chart that I wish would be implemented so everyone can geta weapon a reasonable price.

Frist is the base which is what oyu pay for the weapon it's self.
Unmaxed= 1k
max-high require= 1.5k
Max require(8-10)= 3k

Then for the mods you add thier market value to hte weapons stand alone value to get a total. Then you if you'd like set a stand alone price for the bonus and bamb you got reasoanbliy price weapons. H

Bonus pricning.

15^50= 5k (drop 500gold pre point missing from max)
20>50= 5k
20(vs. hexed foes)=3k (drop 200 pre point missing from max)
20(while hexed)= 3k
15(while enchanted)= 3
15(in stance)=5 (500 pre point missing from max))
15(always)=10k (1k pre point missing for max)

With this simple system you can still get a nice sum of cash and some weapons may still get to 100k+ but for those that arn't really worth that much if you think about it, can be sold to other players for reasonable price.

There are people willing to pay for the color even if its not any different than a diffferent weapon.

And the skin of the actual weapon will make or break how much it goes for. A normal katana is not really a desired sword.

it is the fact that golds r more rare to get and ppl like the prestige of saying i have a gold 15^50 instead of saying it is a collectors item. i use the collectors items but also have a stock of gold weapons so it is all preference.

you right color is irrelevant if mod is good. But skin is important. Rare skin can add 100's of plat to the item value.

Value of something is the amount people are willing to pay for it...if people desire gold lettered weapons then it will worth more. Can't see the problem with that

True the skin makes a difference. Like Dragon Hornbow. But serisouly 100k for just bramble Longbow is made, thats what I get for not having Factions >_<. I guys the famous saying applies to this issue. "It's only worth as much as the person's willing to pay"

It's because Guild Wars is a Barbie Fashion Dressup game for some people. They care about the looks as opposed to the practical use of things.

I just buy clean weapons and add the mods I want...

Sense(SP) For the title of the thread.

Also people sell weapons for the mods or skins. Seeing max chaos axes for a million is just nuts. People price, prices at absurb ammounts.

Some people just don't understand...maybe it's because they're too young too, I guess.

When you get married, try explaining to your wife that a $100 Cubic Zirconia is the same as a $2000 diamond. See just how long your relationship lasts There are people willing to pay more money for something that is rare rather than common. It's been that way since the beginning of time. Why is platinum more valuable than silver when they look exactly the same? It's because platinum is more scarce.

I hope you can use these analogies and compare them to a blue weapon vs. a gold weapon.

While gold text is still very nice to look at, if something is way overpriced I will get a new cheaper collectors item. The Desert collector's shield springs to mind.

Leon is trying to find a excuse to rip off newbies by buying something at the weapon npc and selling it at a higher price. Skin MATTERS in GW, Color MATTERS in GW and requirement MATTERS is GW, trying to find a reason to rip others off is not "thinking outside the box".
IMO this thread is stupid but no more than Leon.

BTW I would have used a lot more cursing words inside the game while explaining to Leon why he couldnt sell that kantana for 10k.

If your wife/girlfriend leaves you because you wont spend 2k on something rather useless for her, then it was never a good relationship in the first place.

That said, what defines a weapon's price is the skin, the mods and the inherent mods. 15>50 is a damn good mod for a weapon. For an axe, you may say "Oh, but it's only 4 extra damage", that's true, but that's 4 extra damage per hit. Once you've got your perfect weapon set, customising it suddenly makes it 35>50, now it's doing 10 more damage per hit.

You're either lying or stupid if you think a white 6-28 req 9 axe is just as good as a gold req 9 6-28 15>50 axe.

I could be wrong, but I remeber that you can purchase a similar katana from an npc for 5k (plus some iron and steel) in Cantha.

My attention were not to rip off, just people are who are hung up on pixelized money freak out when someone dares to try something new, period. Get a life I play the game for what it is meant be played for "FUN" not to yell at people and have maybe 10years of fame that will be gone in like 20. It's hard to enjoy a game when you can't get anything without spending 100hours just to get single item. It's sad when the greed of people fallow into a game.

Was it wrong when I thought about it yes. That why I sold it for 4k and went to message the guy and say he was right but he ignored me. Funny I never insulted him once but he ignores me. The diamond ring was a bad example and sorry to say you sicken me for even writing that. I just posted an idea I got from a past issue.

It seem evertime i post sometime that mightmake life easier for everyone I get yell at by the people who farm, farm, and oh did I metion farm. When I post an idea it's to help the whole not just the rich.

His point was that a blue req 9 6-28 15>50 axe is just as good as a gold req 9 6-28 15>50 axe.

And statistically, of course, it is.

But he was missing the point that people are paying for skins and gold letters. Collectors weapons are the strongest in the game (without mods, of course). Anyone paying for more wants the skin.

Excuse but that was completely uncalled for...

I think saying that Skin, text colour and req mean something is completely from your point of view only. And your point of view could never fully repersent the whole GW community in anycase.

People have often said trying to sell NPc crafted or collected weapons and wrong, but the fact of the matter remains there is nothing wrong with it.

I've sold collector's shields from the desert loads of times, I charge people for the worth of the item + the collectors items and time taken to collect them.

So really 10K for a collectors item which requires 5K + materials to make is a good deal. Sure it doesn't have your fancy gold letter or la-de-da rare skin, but it does the job doesn't? Also if it has the same requirements and stats as a gold item, what is the big deal anyhow?

During PvP I don't stare at people's weapons, I couldn't care less what weapon they have, I'm more focus on the match at hand.

Then again I do like to show off my perfect req 8 Gold Fiery Half Moon Bow of Fortitude (+15% dmg while enchanted) if people ask. But I also have a shortbow of the same stats, which was a blue collector's item! Which I was using before I found the Half Moon.

But at the end of the day both bows are completely the same!

Final comment on what you said, let me remind you that flaming is what is against the rules, also that swearing at anyone in game is not allowed. If you flamed me ingame for trying to sell a collector's item at a fair price, I'd report you.

Please repect others, and try them the way you'd like to be treated yourself.

To the OP: Value is subjective. Get over it. If you don't like the way things work then go with merchants and stop whining. I thought it was amply apparent by now that skins matter. Katana's drop like rain in Cantha. I can get 30 Katanas in a day without even trying and unless it's some gold uber modded katana it's not going to sell for nearly as much as a rarer skin with the same mods. So yes the shiney spoon is worth more because looks matter. Anyone that says product presentation isn't a factor is a liar.

I also noticed the attempt to drag the fun argument in again. Once more my proverbial buttocks have been chapped. Fun is also subjective. If I find making in game cash fun then I'm also playing the game for fun as it was "meant" to be played. ~kicks Leon's high horse out from under him~ I wish people would stop using that everytime someone jumps up to refute them. It's the same card everytime. " You aren't playing the game the right way. You aren't playing it for fun. That's not the way ANt wanted you to play." Shame on you for even trying to bring that up as a serious counterpoint.

The whole skin thing blows me. I've been using the same old [blue] collector's Holy Staff with 20/20 healing prayers and Insightful/Enchanting mods. I good performance staff I would say, yet I get people telling me it's a PoS because it's not Gold/Green or does not have a "cool look." (Soon after these people tend to "accidentally" die becuase I'm "too busy" maintaining the entire team to heal them)
