Why of why did I deleted my first few characters?

I would love to have one of these pets... but alas I deleted the first few characters I made...

You know... back before you could change attribute points easily... back before earning your skill points was as easy as it is over level 20... I didn't like some of the choices so I started again.

The pain.

The agony.

I understand the policy... so each character can get one... but why did I delete them...
