I used to have Arcane Echo on my skill bar until I captured the elite skill Glyph of Renewal. The Glyph is more efficient than Arcane Echo. You use less energy and you can recast your spells faster. The Glyph only costs 5 energy and recharges in 15 seconds. But Arcane Echo costs 15 energy and takes 30 seconds to recharge.
With Glyph of Renewal I can cast Meteor Shower 4 times within 1 minute with a total cost of 120 energy.
With Arcane Echo I can cast Meteor Shower 4 times within 2 minutes with a total cost of 160 energy.
My current skill bar is as such:
Flare
Fireball
Breath of Fire
Glyph of Renewal {E}
Bed of Coals
Meteor Shower
Fire Attunement
Resurrect

2-arcane echo (use it, then immediatly use meteor shower, and arcane is replaced by a brand new MS)
3-glyth of renewal (elite, us eit, next skill u use is instantly recharged)
4-fire attunment
5-aura of restauration
6-ward vs melee or anything elese that help evasing attaks
7-some attak (fire ball, metetor etc)
8-rez
casting order to nuke:
1-fire attunment
2-arcane echo
3-meteor shower
4-glyth of renewal
5- second meteor shower
6-third meteor shower

For anything that is not FoW it is not necessary to bring Renewal and Arcane Echo. My preference goes to Glyph of renewal. With arcane echo the wait between MS is too long, this isnt that much a problem with renewal (I like to keep moving).

and its more wise due to energy managment
MS (25e) + AEc(15e) +MS(25e)= 65e
GR(5e) + MS(25e) +GR (5e) +MS (25e)= 60e
and no need for the long wait
and yeah.... if youre an echo nuker and you get interrupted casting ANYTHING, your whole chain is down. glyth takes only 1 second to cast, so le schance of interruption. and if u get your MS interrupted while u got glyth on, its immediatly recharged anyways, so you just wait few secs and keep going

I also prefer Glyph over the Echos for the advatages already outlined. Plus using Glyph doesn't restrict your multi nuking to having Mes as your secondary class

I noticed this past weekend that MS now causes exhaustion! I am pretty sure it didn't do that last month.
Still a very good spell to use when in groups in PvE. I am running Arcane Echo and Glyph of Renewal. Reason being that I use AE for MS and the glyph for rodgorts invocation. This effectively deals out a truly awesome amount of damage. You just need one tank (with monk to keep him alive during casting times) who is using 100 blades for the added dmg, then you cast MS twice and RI twice.

What have you been smoking this past month? Meteor and Meteor Shower has always caused exhaustion You just haven't been paying attention hehe
Glyph'ing both Meteor and MS sure does hurt the energy bar. In FoW, I was down to 5 energy after nonstop casting, with exhaustion taking the rest of my bar (13 energy storage)

MS does not cause scatter. You can cast as many of them as you want on the enemy. Someone aggro'ing the mob or moving the mob is a different story though. Firestorm does cause scatter, which is why i don't use it.
@ ArTy : I honestly don't recall seeing the exhaustion on MS
It came as a shock the other day. I think I might have missed it cause I don't really need to look at the bar before. Now with Renewal and Arcane Echo, I drop more MS at a time, so suddenly noticed it then. Guess I am not very observant Worst is the fact that I finished Prophecies with my ele and am 1/2 way through Factions and I only noticed it now!
I also noticed that us echo nukers are demand again in Factions Makes me very happy

Agreed. I personally use GoR, though. Echo is an enchant, and hence prone to being stripped. Those darn necros/mesmers can't strip no glyphs :-)
