Sentinel vs Legionnaires armor

Hi im buying 1.5k Kurzick armor today.
Should I get:
Sentinels 100 armor, -20 (str under 13)
Legionnaires 80 +20 vs physical +10 in stance
or
Dreadnoughts 90 +10 physical

I only use stances for solo farm in FOW and im mostly invinceable except for health degen (non armor related).
And I use stances when setting up as a run build once in a while.
Most of the time im setup as a Damage tank nuker playing in Factions. I dont setup to play defense in PVE.

I currently use platemail 90, and I live pretty long compared to w/mo /stance tanks when taking damage after using my +armor skills.

Weapons:
I use an Energy regen Axe req8 and flame artifact.

Runes: Superior Abs, Superior Vigor. Minor: axe, str, tact.
I already have a Dreadnoughts helm (+1 str)

Stats:
Earth magic 9
Fire magic 12
Strength 6+1+1=8
Axe 7+1=8
Tact 3+1=4

Health: 559, Energy: 32

Skills I normally use:
Armor of earth (+46 armor)
Breath of fire
Bed of coals
Glyph of lesser energy
Glyph of energy (elite)
Rodgorts invocation
Meteor shower
and sometimes
Dolyak sig (armor +26)/rez/ sprint (depending on how hard the mission is)

+72 armor total when needed for heavy tanking

If I get Sentinels Ill have to get a Super Str rune -75 Health.
and change stats to:
Earth magic 6
Fire magic 12
Strength 9+1+3= 13
Axe 7+1=8
Tact 3+1=4

My armor from using my skills with these stats would be +68 but I still move very slow.
Health: 484, Energy: 32

Is it worth getting -75 health with super rune to get 100 armor vs everything?
Is 10 more armor (comparing sentinel to platemail 90) worth the cost to health and stats?
Please explain how much of a different 10 more armor will make (if i get Sentinels) when im already at armor level 90 with platemail.

Should I also get Knights Boots (reduces damage from attacks)?

Please provide reasons for your answers. I am willing to be convinced with evidence.

Also I will not be affected by any negative comments about why a tank is nuking or people telling me that I don't have enough energy to cast Meteor shower.
Ive been nuking as a tank for over a year now. I do it because Im original, because I can, and im good at it. :P

Sentinels should never be your only set of armor. There are times when having 13 strength is a total waste. However it is VERY good for certain situations, when you are farming enemies who mostly do elemental damage. My Sentinels set has a Superior strength rune, while my other set has a superior weapon rune.

You also need to take into account having one piece of Knights in there somewhere for your -2 damage reduction. This should be your head or gloves or boots, since the chest and leggings have a higher chance of being hit.

My second set of armor (for PVP or team-based missions) is Gladiator's chest and leggings (for 25 total energy), 1 piece of Knights (for absorption), and the other 2 pieces Beserkers (for extra health). Of course purists will go with a weapon helm to get 16 points in their weapon, while I try to squeak out that last bit of health and "settle" for 15 weapon points. I also have a set of Stonefist Gauntles for whenever I use a KD build.

No single armor is the best, each armor has weaknesses, unless you be like me and go into a blend...

I think Dreadnought is the best armor overall. The other conditional bonuses just don't work the way I'd prefer. Sometimes I stance, sometimes I don't, but in the end, I'll still have more armor than you vs. physical.

Dreadnought Canthan Cuirass. 90+10 vs. physical. Then I do Watch yourself for a nice boost so it's more like 110+10 vs. physical. [110 vs. elemental rocks]

For leggings, I wear Berserker. Since that piece adds the 2nd largest amount of hp of the berserker pieces, I wear it with a sup. vigor rune. [I'd wear the berserker chest but more armor never hurt anyone. Fortitude weapons rock]

Knight's Canthan Boots of minor strength. Dmg reduction global [unless updated (nerfed)] and strength is a warrior's foundation so.

Canthan Stoneskin Gauntlets. Sometimes I do knockdown just for fun.

Tyrian Collector's Executioner's Helm of Sup. Axe Mastery. I wouldn't settle for anything less. However, is there a collector's Exe. Helm in Cantha and a location to find him/her and required items? I wonder what it looks like since the collector's Tyrian helms resemble ringmail style [advanced] helmet.

I went with
+1 str Dreadnought helm 90+10
Sentinel's chest and legs 100
Stoneskin Gauntlets 75+20
Knight's Boots 80+20

I went with Stoneskin Gauntlets since it increases knockdown time for my Met Shower, but the Armor lvl is only 75 +20 physical.
Since I have only 2 armor pieces with lvl 100 but using 75 for gloves, is it still worth it to met the high req 13?
Or does the 100 and 75 even out and make the damage I take more like if i was wearing lvl 90 armor?

If you are using this for the stats and skills you posted previously (a mage in warriors clothes?) then you should have gone with primarily Gladiators for the +energy. You bought Sentinels but have strength < 13 so those pieces are the weakest of your set at armor 80.

Armor is not totalled up or averaged but rather each attack or spell hits a certain piece - chest > legs > all the rest even chance - look it up there's guides to how armor works available.

Hm, I thought Knight's was nerfed to not be global. Or was that just a rumor?

Sentinels chest and leggings put you in a real bad position, and here's why. Over 60% of all attacks and damage spells hit either of those 2 areas. If you're NOT at 13 strength you are going to take a whooping. Note that all other Warrior armors have that "+XX armor vs. physical." No matter what, those will be 95 or 100 vs physical attacks (melee + arrows). Sentinels is either or. 80 or 100, all or nothing. You will be taking some serious damage from everybody- other warriors or Rangers or elementalists- when you don't meet the 13 strength requirement. I strongly advise you to get a Gladiator's chest and leggings to switch out when you're not using 13 strength.

Errr, thats quite an interesting warrior you have, which I'm surprised no one has yet pointed out -_-; A nuking warrior, meteor shower none the less, oh well, might be interesting to see though, although I have no Idea what you're going after, tank or nuker warrior, can only have 1 or the other.

Best I would've pointed out for you if you wanted to be the untimate tank would've been to go w/ sentinel w/ knights boots w/ the following skills:

For tanking:
Defy pain
Dolyak sig

^ set up your str to have dolyak sig last 20 seconds(which should be around 14 str or 15), that way you'll be on + armor & unknockable all the time. W/ defy pain, I really doubt you'll be taking much dmg at all. You'll have about close to 160 armor VS all dmg w/ close to +300hp. Tanking w/ 160ar vs all dmg w/ close to 800hp is something all PVE groups desire. No stance necessary, both those are str related so you'll be really good to go.

Other skills:
Tiger stance = faster attack w/o sacrife dmg and str related
Signet of str = next __ attacks have + 5 dmg
Power attack
Triple chop or whirling axe
Cyclone axe
res sig or Silver armor(the earth magic version of glad def cept its not 1337)

Stats:
14-15 str
8-10 axe
rest in earth magic

^this build does what you're asking for w/o sacrifing effectives for some oddball concept. Silver armor does dmg to whoever attacks you and + armor. No warrior really needs to have this much armor, only degen can kill this build and even then, it'll take a very long time due to defy pain.

I would ditch the whole nuker concept, I dunno why but it just sounds so incredibly stupid to me(no offense) as you're spending time being a very inefficient nuker as there are actual nukers out there for the job. PVE monster react to AoE dmg.

I wanted to craft the same armor, but for differenst reasons.
I wanted to be an axe war, with 13 strength, a 20/20 sundering mod using Penetrating Blow, bringing my penetration to about 53%.

I ended up using
Sentinel's Chest
Sentinel's Pants
Sentinel's Arms
Executioner's Helm
Knight's Boots

This is for PvE, since I'd get laughed at in PvP

The thing is: Using str for the armor penatration and sundering is just as bad in PvE as it is in PvP, for exactly the same reasons. The only difference is, many PvE players have a very poor understanding of the game.

PS: I don't think all that armor penatration stacks.

Umm, Defy pain is SPAMMABLE, 6 adren, when are attacking you can stay on it indefinitely, having +20armor and 300+ HP always was a good thing last time I checked. Tanking isn't about up armor on and turn off brain, you supposed to use your skills efficiently.

It is useful in that regard as you can almost always keep it up if your build alows it.

same could be said about endure pain if you use bonetti's *shrugs* and that way you dont waste a elite.

just how i would rather play it.

(only down fall of that solution is that you are rellying on them attacking you for the energy from bonetti's rather than you attacking them for the strikes of adren.)

I'm taking Defy over Glads anyday, strongly disagree that Defy is a bad elite. Sure, requires adrenaline and all that goes with it but as someone above said it's spammable. I have to wait on Glads to recharge, I rarely have an issue with Defy being up when I want it. Sure it's a bitch when I get blinded or whatever, but it's manageable. I guess a bigger question is more armor (Dread's) versus Berserker's (more health), I'd like to see a comparison there from someone smarter than me.

sentinel has 100 vs elements 100 vs physical 13 req

in the end , when you pick sentinels, you sacrifice 13 strength and extra energy for an extra +20 al vs elemental damage, i cant think of any other damage besides elemental and physical taht is affected by armor, the mesmer and necro spells ignore armor, they are out of the picture, so you pick sentinel = extra coverage agaisnt elemental and less energy with 13 str rew

glad = more energy less coverage on elemental, no req,

but now onto another beast, legionaire, legionaire i think is more valuable then sentinel, get 110 al vs everything, 110 al vs physical, 110 al vs elemental, but on the sacrifice of having an stance on, here is where the build itself comes in, personally legionaire is most useful for me in pve cus i constnaly use a zealous sword with flurry, when i farm spiders, or avicara, when i hit that frenzy i start giong from -2 -1 damage all the way to -0 from my shield alone, so in other words sentinel and legionaire,

in imo shuold be strictly pve, and what sets them apart in pve is this, use legionaire when your going to use a build that constanlty uses stances and a zealous weapon, use sentinel for somehting liek courage's forest farming, when you dont have room for flurry and etc, but this is just a comparison of my whole idea on the situation
