error 005 again in certain area???

I cannot use any of my faction characters... anything involving pvp of the new faction area's.... or any of my normal characters goin to a faction area... i think its a faction thing, and its all error 005

This Problem has been reported please stand by and hope AN gets this problem solved realatively soon.

It's not just Factions. I can't get into the Ring of Fire Mission with my Tyrian mesmer. I can get into the Ring of Fire area, but when the group leader hits "Enter Mission", I hang at the load screen and eventually receive err=005. We've tried three times. It's a drag, because I was grouped with guildies and wanted to get the mission done. Oh well.

ETA: I just tried my Canthan mesmer, and I can't get into Drazack Thicket (?)... same problem. Err=005. I guess I'll try each of my characters until I hit one I can actually play, or give up on GW for the evening if they're all in the same boat. Why does this have to happen during prime playing hours. *sigh*

Anybody check the traceroutes and make sure it wasn't Alter.Net acting up? In which case not sure ANet can do much...

you know what is really sad, I am sitting here, unable to play GW at all due to this problem, and i am listening to my family on vent play Halo, and they normally don't have any troubles but tonight, they are very laggy, they have ping times or up to 1300 and it goes up and down while they stand there and play, so something is up someplace, my family is in 2 different cities so...no we are not all on the same connection. Maybe ALTER.NET is getting so bad that they will have no choice but to actually address the problem at hand about their routing hub.

Same issue, i cant get into the elite mission with my alliance in warren.... so lame....

I'm having the same problems. And its kind of amusing that the explanation given on the error code is about routing issues, but I can connect to my second account OK. The only problem seems to be when trying to get to my guild hall. All 6 characters on my main account are directed to the guild hall even though on the character info screen it says on a number of them that they are in a different place. I can log in fine in my second account and get into the guild hall, which is in a different guild/hall, but when I try to get to my other account's guild hall (via a guest invite) I also end up with Code 005. Very annoying.

Same problem here. Most zones give me error 005.

I can't log onto any of my 6 characters.. not even prophecies chars in tyria

As sorry as I am to see this happening, I am somewhat relieved that I'm not alone. Had similar issues trying to connect to different areas of the game for the last several hours, and timed out with the 005 message. I found it interesting that I was able to travel once in a while.

Do any of the people in this thread subscribe to Verizon internet on the east coast, because I called in a ticket and they said there's a "routing" problem that is across 6 states on the east coast (New York, Maryland, Mass. are the ones I remember for sure) that began several hours ago?

Just wondering if there might be a connection? Are most of the other problems you're seeing intermittent? For example, you might connect once to Lion's Arch, but then you'll hang on the load screen to Ascalon City for 2 minutes and get a 005?

Same problem here, and if I finally get into the game there is so much lag I can't walk.

started when I tried to switch from id1 to id2 with a group. Can log into the zone my chars are in sometimes, but can't go anywhere. Too many ppl for it to be my comp.

FYI,
if you went and unblocked port 80, go switch it back to THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE. Port 80 is the universal http protocol port and a common port for hackers, I was horrified to find that the fix on ncsofts website included opening up port 80. And bring your firewall back up.
