Equipment is the only hope as a Ranger. But expertise is a fantastic Primary attribute. You can use a druids set, and a +5 energy bow to actually increase your energy pool....but what are you trying to do with it?

Expertise is not profession based. Spells, hexes and enchantments are not concerned. The rest does (various attacks and skills only listed as "skills"... like Blackout for example).

He's level 13. Probably just struggling with 10e skills from his Ranger profession, because of little to no Expertise.
ChaoticCoyote: go with full Druid's Armor (32 mana, a must) and 9, 12 or 13 in Expertise. You will be able to once you're level 20 with both quests done for skill points. Just know that every level in Expertise makes your skills 4% less energy-consuming. You can find information about it in Guildwiki for example.

I was distracted...
I am now an R/E 17, and I use some elementalist spells that cost 25 to cast. These are *support* spells for special situations, not my main offense. I have managed to get things working fairly well with a Druid's set and a good expertise to keep the cost of my Ranger spells down.
