hey

i have a level 20 PvE monk that i would like to be able to use in both PvP and different farming parties
i currently have only done 1 of the attribute quests (the desert one), but i am working on the other one

heres my 2 different monk builds, could i plz have advice on whats better and what to change

Weapon - Wenlassius (sp) Faith
Runes - Divine Favour head piece with sup rune of divine favour
Minor Healing
Minor Prot
Major Vigor
Minor Smiting
i am considering swawpping the minor smiting for a minor divine favour, and then buy a new head piece of healing with sup rune of healing so i can easily swap them

Boon Prot Build (unsure of attributes)
Signet of Devotion (unsure if its the best choice)
Reversal of Fortune
Guardian
Energy Drain {E} (for e-managment)
Mend Ailment
Remove Hex (is smite hex better?)
Divine Boon
Rez

Healing Build
Word of Healing
Orison of Healing
Healing Breeze (anti degen)
Healing touch (self heal)
Purge Conditions (is there a better choice?)
Remove Hex (as above)
Vigorous Spirit (flexible)
Rez

so how can i improve these builds for pve farming and pvp (RA and TA)

THE CANUCK MONKS (TCM)

This is my build for a Boon Protector and a Healer:

Boon Protector

Divine Boon
Blessed Signet
Spellbreaker (E)/Shield Of Regeneration (E)
Remove Hex
Mend Ailment
Protective Spirit
Reversal Of Fortune
Rebirth

I use Blessed Signet as often as possible. This is to ensure that I always have the maximum energy I can get. Yes, I only get 3 energy per use, but in a good group I don't run out of energy.

Healing Build

Divine Boon
Blessed Signet
Watchful Spirit
Word Of Healing (E)
Orison Of Healing
Vigorous Spirit
Remove Hex/Mend Ailment
Rebirth

I know other people have a completely different setup for both builds, but this is basically what I usually use.

Why Divine Boon? Extra healing for 2 more energy per monk spell cast on ally. This means heal for Vigorous spirit, remove hex or mend ailment, extra healing for orison of healing.
Why Watchful Spirit? Regenerates Health +2. When removed, heals for more health.

Vigorous Spirit is for warriors and rangers. Allows them to self heal when fighting.

As for your runes, I would only use runes that you intend to use. If you don't use smiting, then you don't need that rune at all.

I don't use smit hex because of the recharge time.

Hope this helps.

Holy Veil is the best single hex removal spell.

Unless you're on a mesmer with Fast casting, then take remove hex.

Now I see why poeple have trouble healing:
For the boon/prot(max DF, split rest):
Mantra of Recall or Air of enchantment for engery management.
Mend condition over ailment
Contemplation of Purity for youself (over devotion~devotion doesn't trigger boon or DF)
Holy Veil for remove hex (especially if you are running CoP and AoEnch)
~Edrain can work, but I like a skill that you can prep when you have a bit of energy and get the energy when you need it.

For the healer:
Mend Condition unattributed seems as efficient as purge.
Personally I'd choose either Breeze or touch for myself (since I can kite), which would free up a slot for heal party or healing seed.

Pick Me: your builds look like a total disaster. No synergy, silly energy management~ basically I get the feeling that you don't get it. Obviously you can still do some healing, but the idea is to be able to keep a bad group alive not a good one.

I've only been playing as boon in PvE recently. This is what I usually ruin:

Reversal of Fortune
Guardian
Mend Condition
CoP
Holy Veil
EDrain {E} (You can switch this for OOB, if you know how to manage agro in PvE really well.)
Divine Boon
Rebirth

I have to agree with thom with your guys' builds. Blessed signet with only 1 maintaining enchantment? Are you kidding me? Also, you should have AT LEAST 3 spammable skills that you can rotate through incase of an emergency (everyone suddenly is at 50% health). That's why I use RoF, Guardian and Mend Condition. CoP is for taking COndition/Hexes off of yourself. I don't suggest using it unless there is a condition/hex on you that stops/hinders you from healing.

If you find you are having a hard time with energy, try this boon build. It's what I used to run when I was first playing boon:

Reversal of Fortune
Guardian
Mend Ailment
Holy Veil
Insipred/Revieled Hex
EDrain {E}
Divine Boon
Rebirth

This adds another hex removal, and a way a gain a bit more energy. If you use your skills wise you will never have energy problems. However, don't get used to it. The build can be alot better if you only use EDrain as your energy management skill. (look at first build)

Im Paper nerf Scissor Rock is [fine]

i have been a WOH/HP monk for 90% of my 4million xp, but as soon as i took my monk from tyria to cantha, i descided to go cap mantra of recall and give boon prot a go, this is the build i came up with, and it works extremly well in factions pve ;']

ROF

Guardian

Aegis

Mend Condition

Revealed hex (new name for inspired hex =/ ) this is just a hilariouse skill in pve, remove hex (eg blurred vision) gain energy, then put it on an enemy, always makes me giggle , usually the amount of energy gained is enough to also use the hex on enemy and break even :]

Mantra of recall

Divine boon

Rebirth

10 INSP

14 PROT

12 DIVINE

i found thru testing that this is the build im most comfortable with and the most effective in factions pve , COP isnt really needed, it was in my build for the first few mission and i never had to use it once .

i played thru the whole factions campaign with this build quite quickly and even had a few nice comments of "woah your a really good prot, no way did u just start playing that today " .. heh <3 lol

equiptment i use is Insightfull Holy Branch of fortitude 10%/10% global, on the very rare occasions that something has broke my mantra of recall enchant early, i have been lucky enough to get a quick recharge on that skill, how nice :]

Unless you're sure a target is going to be taking degen in the -10 to -5ish range, on a regular basis, healing breeze is a very energy inefficent counter to degen.

Remember that any time a target hits max health with breeze, some healing is wasted (unless they have a net of 0 or greater degen). You wouldn't toss a Heal Other (Which heals for roughly the same amount as breeze) at someone who just took 40 damage, but people do just toss breeze around like that. If you want a skill for a self-heal, just bring Healing Touch.
