Chest Questions

Now that they've made all gold drops give inherently better mods and what not then what do the chest do? I've never really understood how they work in general, and so i've decided to finally attempt to figure it out.

You pay more for certain keys, i'm assuming in the hopes of better drops from certain chest or only certain chest contain certain skins or etc.... Perhaps not, but if it was just higher lvl chest offer better chances of perfect weapons then the updates kinda screwed up that. So...my question is: do higher lvl chest offer certain skins, or just improved chances of getting golds etc..?

Chests in higher level areas can contain MAX golds (with perfect mods).

Chests in lower level areas can contain non-max golds (with perfect mods).

Also some chests only hold certain item skins, or have a higher frequency of dropping certain item skins.

For example: Stone Summit Axes and Stone Summit Hammers are highly improbable chest drops anywhere else but the Stone Summit peaks.

Thanks for the summary there, i'm curious if anyone has a list of probable chest drops as in which skins are most likely to drop where.
