So wait a minute...assassins are not going to get any new content in the future?

I heard that assassins and ritualists will get no new content in future expansions...(such as new 15k armor, new skills, skins etc.)...is this true?

What sense would it make for the two newest professions, to be singled out to not receive new content? Furthermore, it would be nearly impossible for Anet to stream new content to all of your "other" characters, but not your Assassins or Ritualists. Don't believe rumors like this.

*EDIT* I need to go to bed..as for armors, skills....I highly doubt that Anet would put out a new game with new professions, which are both already quite popular, and then just dump on them in that way. I still say (after correctly reading your concerns) it's BS.

I see...I was just asking because there was quite a lengthy topic yesterday concerning the issues I asked about...strangely many people said it was true so that got me wondering.

Well, I can just not plausibly see anything like that happening. I mean people would literally go nuts if Anet decided to stop updating things, for example, for warriors. They can't release professions and then just toss them aside, as many customers will prefer that profession over all others. It would be terrible business.

Actually, the OP is correct in his original statement.

Assassins and ritualists will only be getting content in Factions. Beyond that, they are PLAYABLE in future chapters, but you won't see weapon/rune drops or armor/skills.

Each chapter will feature "two new professions" exactly how it was done in Factions. From there, in THAT chapter, there will be weapon/rune drops and armor/skills for them.

The Core Six professions (Monk, Warrior, Elementalist, Mesmer, Ranger and Necromancer) will recieve new updates, new armor, items, and skills.

Think about it... do you see anything dropping for Assassins and Ritualists in Prophecies?

Wait, so assassins DO get new content, but the new content (skins, new armor) will only be in cantha...am I right?

The only way that would happen is a special event (like the SF update was). But I don't remember reading in any FAQ or Developer post about updating afterwards (beyond skills readjustments)

Once CH3 comes out, odds are that Cantha will be pretty solid as an area most likely, no more changes will occur there. As for weapons/runes, i'm pretty certain that those may drop because they are random and an assassin should be able to get atleast some equipment where ever they happen to travel. New 1.5k / 15k armors though are probably very unlikely.

You are also saying don't beleive that there WILL be content for the classes.

Eitherway is unconfirmed, and as logical as the other.

I believe that before factions was released, it was stated that ritualists and assassins were a factions only thing and wouldn't be receiving updates in future chapters, but i believe from some things i've read lately that they've changed their mind. After all chapter 3 wasn't supposed to have any new classes, but apparently we will be getting 2 new classes.

They stated pretty clearly how the system works, back when all the new info about Factions was floating around. I'm certain it's in an old press release somewhere, but I'd have to go look it up again.

The six that we all know and love (henceforth called the "core" classes) will be in and supported in every new chapter to come. Any new professions that might be introduced will ONLY be supported in their respective chapters. Yes, that means no new skills, armor, whathaveyou for Ritualists and Asssassins from here on out.

that makes no sense to me.. I don't think Anet can afford it to just dump the new classes.

In several webcast interviews, Jeff Strain has said that the A and Rt will be niche classes that will not be as fully developed as the core classes.
The full extent of this is not really known, but I wouldn't be that surprised to find that Ch3 will not allow you to start an Assassin or a Ritualist, just as Ch1 wont.
Time will tell i suppose.

I think that if the characters arent going to get new content in the new territories, then when linked to an account that has another chapter, the extra classes should get new skills/armor in their region. Or they could release periodic "skill patches" to keep the extra classes up with the rest of them.

It does say in the factions manual (not much to go on i know but for the sake of argument...) it does say that the assassin and ritualist profesions are exclusive to Cantha. However i agree, wait for more info about CH3 and save the headaches for later

i agree with fiery, until galie or another person of equal knowledge from Anet says something about it you can't believe any person that just states their opinion or a rumer that they heard.

for starting a character yes.

aside from that i just ran my ritualist from LA back all the way to Ascalon dancing in each place as i opened them.

even got a low level rit item or 2 along the way

since merged accounts share content availability it would be hard not to drop cantha stuff in chapter 1

If I had to take a guess, (read: GUESS) I would say that it would be linear ... aka, Core classes have stuff (skills, armor, etc) available in every expansion since they were the original classes, then factions-originating classes have stuff from factions -> onward, chapter 3 toons will have stuff starting in chapter 3 -> onward ...

The only exception I can think of is Fissure armor for all classes being in CH1, but then again it's a realm of the gods so It should be accessible from all expansions ... er, sorry, not expansions. "Stand-alone" expansions

I have seen no proof either way, so if you really want to convince everyone, get the proof, if you cant find it, it doesnt exist.

I for one doubt theyd drop the new profs like a bad habit, as it will reduce their use in PVP immediately, let alone would everyone lose all interest in the "older" expansion characters.

Also, I got a sin rune and a set of daggers tyria. Might be a glitch, but Ive heard of others getting them as well.

Well wait till Gaile answers.

I think what has happened has been a misinterpretation of a press release. Yes, the Ritualists and Assassins are exclusive to Cantha "in relation to the Prophecies" , which is what I read it as. At the time of the press release they were delineating between the two campaigns. I'm not spouting this as gospel, but it makes the most sense to me.
