Campfire for PvE only....

I'm not against seperating the PvP fromt he PvE sections. But really a character build should be allowed in the campfire forums. A single character build will be lost amongst the team builds and will not draw enough attention to make any changes/improvements. The attention it does get will be negative, and creative builds will be discouraged.

That was my suggestion, so I will answer this.

We do not, and never have had a Random Arena section, for a reason. In random arena anything goes; you can run complete trash and have limited success with it. It is basicly so ridiculously weak that there is no point. I would personally like to limit the amount of garbage gimmicky arena builds that are posted.

There are now new sections in Team Arena, GvG and HA for builds specific to those forms of PvP. The reason for this being that you can actually put together a team build for these, which is what Guild Wars is about; Team work and character interaction. There reallly is no place for solo character builds in Guild Wars PvP. You have a great Warrior build for GvG? Great, but that Warrior is probably going to be useless if someone tries to use it without the neccasary support.

The only character that can possibly justify being posted as a solo build, would be a GvG flag runner. In this case it simply goes in the GvG section.

Here I thought I was the only one who knew Campfire was for PvE only... read through any subforum in there and it's about 40% PvE and 60% PvP.

Which is fine, I'm not going to complain. But everyone has to learn somewhere...

Why should a PvP thing be allowed into a PvE-part of the forum? It's really not where it belongs is it? First off, the PvE-people will mostly just find it irritating and the PvP-people might not even look at that place (I at least don't) .

Besides that, it's as if you are saying that people should be allowed to post ideas into the Riverside Inn because it has 5 times as much viewers

If someone is looking for the basic Bonder build, or a basic Ranger Spike build it would be easier to look through the specifc forum than shift through the team builds. Even if you were to find a specific build amongst the team's posted...It might not be the very basic build you were looking for. More likely you'd find a build slanted to fill some slot/role besides the one you were looking for. It's fine cutting down on gimmicky builds, or PvP from inexperienced users, or whatever. But there needs to be a place where it is seperated out to discuss the basics... apart from the place were advanced team builds are discussed. People use the campfire forums because there really isn't a place for that elsewhere. Besides forcing PvP to be posted in the Gladiator arena means all those RA/TA threads that you don't like reading will creep into the forums you visit the most.

I'd also point out that a few recent articles posted from GWG staff have been posted in the Campfire forums. One at least is focused on PvP and other's have a PvP slant (ie....PvP article in Ranger's Forum).

I do not know yet.

We weren't working on seperating out PvP vs. PvE builds at the time those articles were posted. We can certainly move them to the appropriate sections. But the emphasis we are trying to place on seperating PvP and PvE is to really better the community and their understanding of a build. The method and way you play PvE vs. PvP is very different and important as far as the discussion and input that can be offered. It's not as often as a poster thinks that a build can be universal and be effective in both PvE and PvP. And it goes even farther with PvP that it's not often a build can be just as effective in GvG as HA.

We are continually working on making the sections more fine-tuned to better serve the community. So if you have suggestions, questions, and concerns we certainly welcome them. If you can think of a better way to organize this (please, without adding 10 additional sub-forums) then we are open to hearing them.

Make a new forum for basic character specific questions (ie...Which bow to use for spike?, Bonder energy Management?, etc.) and staff articles. That would leave the main lobby in Gladiators Arena for character builds. With all of them in one place, they would get the attention they need for improvement, and it would be easy to keep a lid on RA builds or gimmicky FotW builds.
