Ok, so I just started a new monk and is currently using Brohn's Staff(which cost me a fortune back then when I got it for my Ranger UW farming). I thought it would be uber for the price, but when I looked at the other possible choices, I came to the conclusion that this is actually pretty poor in comparison.

Quote: brohns staff:
energy+10
half healing cast 20%
hp+30
hp+30
reduce bleeding 20% Quote: brohns wand+stonehart:
energy+12 req9
half cast 10%
half healing recharge 20%
half healing recharge 20%
healing+1 20% Quote:
wayward wand+straw:
energy+12 req9
energy +5>50
half healing recharge 20%
half healing recharge 20%
hp+30
Quote:
Wenslauss' Faith
Energy +10
energy+5
half cast 10%
half recharge 10%
hp+30 Question, if both the wand and off-hand have the "half healing recharge 20%" bonus, do they become stackable to make it a 40%?

So what would you guys suggest?

Use either...

Brohns Holy Rod+Stonehart:
energy+12 req9
half cast 10%
half healing recharge 20%
half healing recharge 20%
healing+1 20%

or

(this cost me about 40k, crafted it for 12k, then got a 20% enchant for 26k)

They become 36%, iirc.

And, when I play healer, I use a 20/20 staff, since healing spells tend to be 3/4 second and more, with +60 HP.

When on a healer, cast time is more important then the recharge, imo.

Mooge. After you beat shiro you go to a zone where this crafter is. He also crafts +5 energy hammers, daggers, axes, and bows. All cost 10k craft and various materials.

1. Katana of Fortitude (Energy +5, Health +30), The Soulstone (Divine Favor +1 (20% chance), Health +45 (while enchanted)).

2. Garbok's Cane (20/20 Inspiration Magic), Jeweled Chalice (20/20 Inspiration Magic).

3. Holy Rod (Energy +15, -1 Energy regenaration), Jeweled Chalice (Energy +15, -1 Energy regenaration, Health +30).

4. Katana of Fortitude (Damage +15%, Energy -5, Health +30), Scroll (Energy -2, Armor +5, Health +25).

Switching ftw! It really makes a Monk alot more effective. I wonder why so few switch..

Quote: 1. Mungri's Flame (Energy +5 (While Enchanted), Halves skill recharge of spells (10%)), Straw Effigy (Recharge Inspiration (20% chance), Health +30).

2. Garbok's Cane (20/20 Inspiration Magic), Jeweled Chalice (20/20 Inspiration Magic).

3. Katana of Fortitude (Energy +5, Health +30), Jeweled Chalice (Energy +15, -1 Energy regenaration, Health +30).

4. Ironclaw (Damage +15%, Energy -5, Health +30), Scroll (Energy -2, Armor +5, Health +25). Changed it to what I use.

Of course, predix doesn't matter on your sword, and I also have a 20% protection recharge Wayward wand, but I like Mungri's Flame more.

As for 3. I use a Katana instead of the 15 wand, because this way you get 2 pips of regen instead of 1. One pip of Regen > 10 mana.

I use a 20/20 wand and a 20/20 focus. Can be made in Leviathan pits.

Is there any reason why you would *not* take a sword/focus combo instead of a rod/focus as your main heal set?
I don't really see much of an arguement.
+5 more energy and 20% enchant/30hp
vs
2 from (+1 skill / 20 cast / 20 recharge / 30hp / 30hp) with a rod.

On a bonder divine cast/recharge is pretty key, so perhaps you'd want a double 20/20 setup. For WoH, RC or SB/Infuse monks, the extra energy wins hands down every time imo.

(Speaking as a relatively inexperienced R3 monk)

1 - General healing
2 - Using E drain?
3 - Emergency healing swap up set
4 - Negative energy swap down set

right?

Had this old thing forever, it's still my main/only healer weapon. Built it myself from a collector's staff I got from someone in Piken when I was just a wee n00b. I wouldn't mind a healing prayers wraping instead though...

I also have K's Refuge for when I go Prot.

I like staves more than wands/foci for the sex appeal. Besides, I have been using a staff since pre, it's just easier.

BlueNovember, you're spot on

Also, I see no reason as to why you would take a stave over a wand/foci since +5 energy wands and weapons are so easy to get. I would take a stave on a healer simply for the 20/20.

On a boonprot, take a wand and a foci. With a wand and a foci, you can get 7 more mana then with a staff, and still get the same bonuses. You can take either a 20% recharge wand, +1 something offhand, 20% recharge offhand, 45 or 30 HP. I don't see a competition. Wand and Foci is hands down better then a stave on a boon prot.

The only reason for a staff is if you want a fortitude prefix, which a sword can't offer. Ideal sword/focus combinations seem to be able to comfortably match staffs, with the convinience bennifit of being able to mix and match foci with the sword.

Exactly, with a staff, you can get 20/20 and +60 HP. Which you cannot get with wand/foci. And 20/20 is KEY for a healer, 60 HP is just really really nice to have.

I mainly use wayward wand + straw effigy, both recharge on inspiration. I just like boonprotting in pve and pvp. When i need longer enchants i change to the katana.

When full healing i use a +5^50/20 faster cast and a 20/20 healing focus, or the +1/20% +30hp focus. Faster casting is nice on healing monks because most healing skills have long casting time.

when fighting spike teams i grab my +30 +30 hp staff or the +5 +5 armor staff depending on what kind of spike they are. (obsidian and blood are armor ignoring)

just a few of the monk items i use:

Hey guys, I am confused. Why is sword an ideal choice for monk?
