New idea for PvE faction gaining (Repeatable Quest)
WasAGuest
Factions has a desperate need for more PvE repeatable quests for faction. Anet still thinks (if they are even doing that in this regard) most of us will suddenly begin PvPing to gain faction. Most of us seem ready to quit rather than do that. I know I am.
So, here's a few ideas for more repeatable quests to give some life to Factions.
Bounty Hunter
An NPC gives the player(s) a randomly chosen boss mob within the factions area (Jade Sea or Echovald) to eliminate. The player(s) would then head to the area where the boss is at and take it out.
Fun part: Killing bosses has the chance at goodies to drop (fun), elites to cap (fun) and would be possible to use henchies ("Lfg" for 20 minutes, not fun).
Rewards Part: Taking place over several zones, the rewards would need to be on par with other multi-zone faction quests; 1k or more. This would help alieve some of the faction farming that dominates Factions.
Item Hunter
An NPC gives the player(s) the task of retrieving a specific item from a specific mod or chest. The possibilities on this are huge. Anet could even make the quest giver ask for one of the green items in the game in exchange for massive faction points. Of course, Anet would have to flag the item as "quest given" so the player can't just buy it (therefore buy faction points). But it's possible. If the player then opts to not turn in the item, they can cancel the quest and fail it (of course, the whole group would then also fail it - so there's some peer pressure on that).
Fun Part: Finding "goodies" is always fun. And then to "turn in or not to turn in" would be a fun choice.
Rewards Part: Green items (at least the one being quested after) would have to drop 100% of the time during that instanced quest. Economy wise? Might make a slight dent, but those that are after the faction points will turn it in. And since Anet would have to "flag" the item as "quested" they could also make it instantly customized for the looter so it can't be sold (but they can keep it if they want to use it).

/signed for the Bounty Hunter idea, that sounds great, and could definatly work out very well.
Im not sure about the Item Hunter though, I can allready hear the angry mob screaming about that one. Maybe it could work if the items you were to hunt was just random quest items dropped by a random mob-type instead of greens, or if there where collectors who traded collector items for Faction.

There's some interest, at least a little. Keeping it alive. There's also another thread I made to make the rewards system of these quests better: Here.

I don't like the idea of allowing one player to hold onto the item forcing the group to fail. Make it that everyone needs to get an item from the chest, and turn it in seperatly. Though a holdable item would also work if the NPC is in the same area as the chest
Apart from that its all good

Or just increase the factions reward for the current repeatable quests.

Both pretty good.

/signed on Boss Hunt, and with a bit of work, Item Hunt as well (I think the suggestions already made are pretty good)

So far, all signed for, so I'm guessing it's liked at least a little bit. Anyone else?

I like both, but the Item Hunter I like more along the lines of the Discord Wallow/Melodic Gaki quests where you find one specific monster and he drops a special item.
It sure would be nice to have something other than Duel of Houses/Jade Arena/Supply Lines to do if you only want PVE-derived Faction. In fact, even if you do the alliance battles (which suck) the available methods for getting Faction are very limited and repetitive, so there definitely need to be more ways in general to get Faction.

I like the idea of repeatable quests in general. Am having a hard time trying to get the 10000 faction needed for Befriending Kurzicks, and I don't much like joining a party in Altrumm Ruins only to find it being dominated by noobs who can't follow instructions on where to go.

You know... you'll have enough faction points if you ::gasp:: do the non-repeatable quests?

I'd be fine with the Bounty Hunter idea.
The Item Hunter idea needs to be more of a recover 5 stolen supply tokens from 5 mobs... that sort of thing, in my opinion.

/signed for the Bounty Hunter repeatable quest.
/signed for the Item Hunter if the item shows up as a quest item and can't be used by characters.

For Elite Cap, players get frustred when the Elite they want is in a quest and they've finished it before when they noticed this (Exemple, Way of the Empty Palm). That's will help alot for them.

There probably is more than enough of quests on Luxon side, BUT, those extra quests aren't available before compliting Gyala Hatchery

Thanks for the support on this.

I like the idea of more repeatable quests, the more the better. However I don't think all of them should be henchable. Frankly I sometimes just don't want to work with henchmen. They can be very annoying in their stupidity and it's certainly a lonesome trip. I wouldn't mind some being more challenging, requiring you to work with people to do it. Not all quests, of course.
Also, I wouldn't mind if these quests took you to some of the more remote places, like Mourning Vail Falls.

Pandora's box
I'd like to see this idea worked out for broader usage: randomly repeatable quests where you can choose out of several rewards like faction points, experience, gold, or an item. The quests should be related to your current experience level. So a low level chr. can do them at low level maps for a small reward and high level chr's can do them on high level maps for bigger rewards.
Possible quests to add to this feature:
-Item/message delivery.
-Espionage
-Kill X monsters of monstertype ....

Bump for good idea.
Also along the similar line, was thinking of a Skill Cap Quest.
Talk to a NPC, and he/she will tell you what skill to cap (can be elite or regular), and give you a tempary skill call Skill Cap Holder (its not the sig of skill cap). You will have to equip that skill, and try to find a boss with that skill to cap. Once done so, return to the npc for reward, and that skill cap skill will be take off too.
the holder skill will not cap the skill as unlock (you still need to bring a sig for that), but will allow you to use that skill for continuation of that map. It also does not matter if you already unlock/cap that skill before or not.
