Can't party with other player

Hi, this is a question for my son. He has his own account and so does some of his friends from school. They tried to get together this morning to play and it will not let them group together. They were in the same district, american. I even got the other boy to log off and see if he was on a european sever but he was in american too. I attempted to get him to go to the last district in pre-ascalon(which at the time had 4 districts) but he only had 2 district available whereas my son had 4. His player status was online. They could whisper chat and it showed him on my sons friends list. Tho they were(susposedly in the same district) they could not see each other, character or local chat. Any ideas swirling out there for this issue? Thankyou in advance for your help, Aerial.

This is a far shot, but I've had the same thing happen before on occasion. When there is an update (which there was just recently) if one person downloads it and another (or others) do not, you can be sitting in the same district chatting to each other (through whisper), but you will not see one another, nor would you see the same thing in terms of districts. This is the only thing I personally know of that would cause this, but having everyone log off and back on to ensure all updates were installed should fix that. Other than that, I really don't know.

Edit: Yes, just adding for clarification since cosyfiep pointed it out and I forgot to mention it. You have to actually shut down the guildwars program and relaunch to update, not just log off (as I may have implied).

yes the best thing would be for both parties to log off COMPLETELY and relog in....there have been tons of updates recently and some more than one in a single day (and this has happened with my guildmates as well....sometimes they dont read the crawler to see 'there is a new build available, please exit the program and start again' ) so just log off, shut gw down and relaunch it, should clear the problem up!

Ya, pretty much, exit and re-run the game. If that doesn't work, as a last resort, re-install the game. If that doesn't work, have everyone of his friends do it too. I had a problem on my game one time where my graphics were all screwed up. Everyhting was bigger and uglier. I just re-installed the game. Re-installing it can be a @#$% if you have a slow computer, but it is worth it to be able to play with you friends.
